The Learning Specialist supports the growth and development of both Associates and Dierbergs by designing, developing, delivering, and implementing training programs and resources, through collaboration with stakeholders, to determine the needs and content of courses/programs and appropriate methods of delivery. This position will help to foster a culture of learning with a fast-moving, demanding and customer-centric organization, and carry-out Dierbergs mission to “Grow Every Day”.

All duties to be performed according to the established standard and in compliance with all company policies and procedures while maintaining regular, prompt attendance and availability to work outside of standard business hours .

About the role

  • Support the Learning Team by collaborating with Subject Matter Experts to design, develop, sustain learning resources using a wide variety of print, graphics, audio, and video (media) technology as well as e-learning authoring tools; utilize multiple types of ILT (instructor-led training), including classroom, demonstrations, and interactive exercises; work with content delivery platforms including the learning management system.
  • Provide support with managing logistics for critical Learning responsibilities, including, but not limited to: LMS Administration (troubleshooting with staff, uploading content, creating learning plans, etc.) and Event & Training Logistics.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and formats to facilitate a wide range of training programs and train-the-trainer sessions that focus on Associate and managerial development as well as operational initiatives, specific concepts, practices, and procedures, and provide professional and technical support to location-level trainers and Associates.
  • Review and revise existing program concepts, strategies, and instructional materials to continuously advance the learning culture.
  • Develop and maintain training metrics to evaluate effectiveness of training; recommend changes to curricula or delivery methods based on instructional effectiveness data, current or future performance requirements, feasibility, and costs.
  • Build and sustain partnerships cross-functionally to get work accomplished efficiently and with the organization in mind.
  • Research, evaluate, and pursue continuous education opportunities in adult learning theory, instructional design, and emerging technologies and methods.
  • Uphold the security and confidentiality of documents and data within area of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties within the Learning Department or other areas as assigned.

About you

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook email systems
  • Knowledge of audio and video editing software such as Camtasia, Vyond, Adobe Suite, Audacity preferred.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and instructional design software (i.e. Articulate – Rise & Storyline) strongly preferred.
  • Facilitating trainings (virtually/in-person) required
  • Strong project management skills

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Training & Development, Human Resources, Organization Development, Education, Communication and/or related field preferred.
  • Retail experience strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Training & Development within a corporate environment preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

  • Possess a current state driver’s license and valid insurance with the ability to travel to business locations as needed.
  • Certification in eLearning or Instructional design is preferred but not required.
