 The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the AQR Abbott Qualioty and Regulatory division.  As the Sr Instructional Designer, you’ll perform analysis for Instructional Systems Design: Job task, needs, performance analysis.

What You’ll Work On

  • Design learning assets: Instructor-led, web-based, job-aids. Select and use a variety of techniques for determining instructional content and strategies. Create a design document that specifies learning objectives, measures of student learning, learning materials design specifications, and learning impact (e.g. business results). Evaluate/Recommend existing learning materials.
  • Develop assets: Create storyboards, web-based training for interactive multimedia delivery, instructional graphics, and diagrams. Implement learning assets to be tracked by learning management system (SCORM). Use variety of authoring tools: Articulate, Adobe Captivate and PowerPoint.
  • Evaluate and assess instruction and its impact. Work with management to evaluate the effectiveness of the training curriculum by implementing measures to track outcomes and ensure alignment to business objectives.
  • Provide project management during design to implementation phases of the learning solution. Interface with clients, business organizations and vendors as necessary during the design process.
  • Understand business strategy and translate into learning solutions to support the client population.
  • Ability to think clearly, write concisely and communicate effectively, including being able to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms.
  • Demonstrated instructional design and development skills including needs analysis, and systematic instructional design processes, graphic design and visual support, evaluation, and impact assessment.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply adult learning principles.
  • Demonstrated problem-identification, problem-reporting and problem-solving skills in working with computer technology.
  • Familiar with developing internet and eLearning technologies.
  • Must be familiar with related graphics/authoring tools, as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Project and time management skills-managing multiple priorities.
  • Good interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Team player with a positive attitude, sense of urgency, and willingness to do whatever is needed to achieve project goals and requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Computer Science, Instructional Technology, Training and Development, or related field.
  • Minimum Associate’s Degree in Instructional Design and/or Technology and 5+ years related experience and knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Training and Development, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Training and Development experience developing and deploying web-based media-supported training.

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
