Who We’re Looking For

The Instructional Curriculum Developer is responsible for the development and coordination of training courses and staff development programs to support the mission and culture of Capital Metro. This position will assist in the design, development, implementation, and facilitation of training programs. Duties include speaking with department heads and other personnel to determine and develop learning curriculum to meet CapMetro Strategic Business Plan objectives.

Key Deliverables: Responsibilities include needs assessments, curriculum development, course content development, program assessments, participant testing/evaluations creation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Responsible for developing and delivering well-organized, practical, and effective training content through exceptional instructional design and facilitation, to meet the unique needs of CapMetro while also building for scale.
  • Conduct research and review of existing training curricula and best practices for training.
  • Consult with management to identify training needs and to ensure course content, training methodologies, and training materials meet those needs. 
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to create training modules/lessons and submit finished projects for final review.
  • Conduct formal training program assessments to identify gaps between learning objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Develop and administer tools to measure effectiveness of training programs.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities for development and co-lead responsibilities in designing, developing, and executing programs/experiences to build critical capabilities while fostering a culture of high-engagement, innovation, continuous improvement, and high performance across the enterprise.
  • Design and develop storyboards, scripts for audio and video presentations, and interactive models for simulations.
  • Create branching models for multiple outcome training modules.
  •    Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process  
  • by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action and reporting safety and 
  • security concerns.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communication, Industrial and Organizational Psychology or a related field. Related experience may substitute for educational requirements on a year for year basis for up to four years.
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Organizational Development, HR or other related business field preferred
  • Six (6) years’ experience developing learning/training material using the ADDIE or equivalent model.
  • Solid experience organizing trainings and developing curriculum (instructional and participant guides)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with the methods and principles for designing programs and assessing the effectiveness of training.
  • Knowledge of adult learning leaning theory and education principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of instructional design models, strategies, and best practices
  • Working knowledge of streaming audio and video, file types and formats, and experience with on-line e-Learning software
  • Use appropriate tools and delivery methods to produce blended learning materials.
  • Hands-on experience with various e-learning development tools and software (Articulate Studio/Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, or other) instructional design software.
  • Ability to access training needs, formulate training objectives and measure effectiveness of training programs.
  • Ability to develop scalable modules to ensure all training programs are consistent.
  • Strong communication, planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. 

Work Environment And Physical Demands 

Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. This position works with multiple project timelines and is responsible for managing employees performing work of a complex nature.  

Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout an eight-hour period, reach vertically for overhead use as well as horizontally. Must be able to use a telephone or headset equipment. 

Incumbent must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs., perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day, and function in an environment with constant interruptions.

Mobility Status:

As a Mobile position, the incumbent is expected to work in the office as needed.  There will be access to touchdown/collaboration spaces when on site. Must be in-office for socialization, strategic collaboration, supervision, oversight, and accountability as needed. CapMetro reserves the right to modify work status based on business needs.
