Academic Part-time Position

The School of Workforce Development, Continuing Education & Online Learning is currently seeking qualified professionals as Part-time Curriculum Developers to design the following courses for their new Urban Planning & GIS program:

  • Community Planning and Design
  • Presentations and Graphic Communication
  • Stakeholder Management and Communication Planning
  • Trends in Urban Planning
  • Geographic Information Systems IV
  • Capstone Project

The successful candidates will work in collaboration with a development team to create curriculum and training, including evaluations, and carry out administrative duties related to curriculum development. No prior curriculum development experience is required as Conestoga provides support and training.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and build relations with other Curriculum Developers, the program team and supporting department services
  • Attend training and relevant meetings as required
  • Develop course outlines for courses, including course topics and outcomes, accreditation and program outcomes alignment and evaluation matrix
  • Review and source course resources such as textbooks, etc.
  • Develop all curriculum content, such as PowerPoint slides, detailed assessments, rubrics, teaching materials and activities and weekly lesson structures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Science, Environmental Sciences, or related field
  • Experience with curriculum development is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience of computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g., D2L) is an asset
  • Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and provide a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels including international students and students requiring accommodation is an asset
  • Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Strong relationships with industry contacts and network connections is considered an asset
  • Experience developing online or hybrid courses preferred
