The opportunity

The Learning Engineer develops solutions to complex learning challenges and opportunities for SNHU’s Global Campus offerings. Your focus is in emerging educational technology, design platforms, and new models for digital education. You will work collaboratively across numerous internal departments and lead several efforts to test, prototype, and operationalize solutions related to our strategic efforts in making education more affordable, accessible, and high quality. You are expected to have a breadth of expertise in instructional design, assessment, educational technology, competency-based education, game-based learning, user experience design, and learning management systems.

You will be specifically aligned to efforts surrounding the exploration, evaluation, and analysis of generative AI tools for use to enhance the learning experience and the design and development process. You will also operate in a lead role in the testing and prototyping of AI-supported tools.

You will be fully remote, and will report to the Director of Learning Engineering. #LI-Remote

You’ll Get To:

  • Design and develop learning solutions drawing from research-based efforts in learning science and educational technology.
  • Manage complex design projects independently with small, agile teams.
  • Research and prototype solutions for new and emerging models related to learning models and learning experiences supported by generative AI solutions
  • Integrate research-based practices from diverse populations of learners to ensure solutions are learner-centered and support personalization.
  • Analyze faculty needs across multiple faculty models to support the teaching and facilitation of the learning solution.
  • Integrate well-aligned and valid assessment methods throughout the learning solution.
  • Develop technical specifications and use cases for applying appropriate technology to support learning.
  • Collaborate with user testing teams to evaluate the effectiveness of learning solutions through user testing, learner analysis, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Consult and provide support for development and continuous improvement teams to operationalize design models.
  • Collaborate with project partners and teams to document and support efforts to move recommended learning solutions to scale.
  • Maintain a focus on impact toward sustainability, scalability, and feasibility according to the university’s mission to increase affordability and access to education.
  • Collaborate with internal and external experts to maintain awareness around developments in the field of generative AI for application to online learning

What We’re Looking For:

  • 6+ years experience in instructional technology, instructional design, online program management, or related field.
  • Experience using emerging generative AI technologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in educational technology, instructional design, curriculum design, or educational psychology, or related field.
  • In-depth, practical knowledge, and experience with educational technology and systems: LMS systems, courseware platforms, and authoring/design tools (Articulate, Adobe, etc.).
  • Familiarity of online learning models, including competency-based programs and/or alternative learning models and pathways.
  • Demonstrated experience leading diverse projects and people.
