Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic, authentic, passionate person with expertise in instructional design and development. This is a new instructional design and development role within the Technology Enabled Learning team. Critical to this individual’s success is the ability to advance the product priorities of the Technology Enabled Learning team in partnership with the product management team. The individual should have a strong focus on justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI), and a desire to advance Erikson’s mission of serving young children and their families as essential for success in the role. Candidates should have a desire to further develop their JEDI competencies to better create solutions and collaborate with colleagues toward our unified efforts to strive toward justice. As a key member of this team, the individual should expect to develop their own equity goals and approach JEDI growth with curiosity, compassion, and humility. 

The Manager of Instructional Design & Development will provide both strategic planning support and content delivery development in Technology Enabled Learning. The Manager of Instructional Design & Development will, in partnership with the Product Management team, develop a product roadmap of content and manage content creation against that roadmap. This lead role will work with faculty and staff experts in developing content and finding strategic uses in multiple areas within content and across the team (i.e. marketing assets). This position will train new team members, work study employees, and superusers and may supervise instructional designers as the team grows. The candidate is comfortable seeking information and solutions, working within tight timelines, managing multiple projects and project components, and has instructional design and development expertise.

Principal Duties:

  • Share responsibility to drive JEDI efforts forward and ensure that the organization’s Technology Enabled Learning efforts are supportive of the organization’s JEDI values and that there is a broad focus on engaging our many constituencies through this work.
  • Develop their own equity goals and approach JEDI growth with curiosity, compassion, and humility. These should include both equity goals that support growth in organizational equity and personal growth.

Core Function 1: Operational Duties

Under the leadership of the Associate Director of Instructional Design & Development, serve as a team leader in implementation of the following operational components: 

  • KPI framework to include implementation process and tracking with periodic reviews
  • Budgets for each core function include analysis of potential team resource needs and foreseen barriers to success.
  • Continual feedback loops with team members using a strengths-based approach and inclusive of professional development opportunities.
  • Effective communication with colleagues across the organization and partners.
  • Policies and procedures that are practical and helpful.
  • Strategic planning to include growth initiatives.

Core Function 2: Instructional Design & Development 

Under the leadership of the Associate Director of Instructional Design & Development, implement the following instructional design and development components:

  • Meet with product management team members, project management team members, faculty, and other relevant Erikson staff to develop highly effective learning experiences.
  • Develop content as required tailored to specific projects, including graphic design of audiovisual printed and online materials.
  • Use learner personas to design engaging, effective learner experiences.
  • Improve the learner experience by maintaining accessibility standards and providing consistent design.
  • Use the product roadmap and prioritized development timeline that aligns with accreditation standards, credentialing requirements, and other necessary system frameworks.
  • Implement instructional design standards of excellence grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and adult learning principles leading to knowledge acquisition, practical application, and competency based.
  • Framework for data analysis from continual quality reviews to enhance content inclusive of learner feedback, changing standards in the field, and stakeholder reporting.

Core Function 3: Support Implementation Support Desk Functions

Under the leadership of the Associate Director of Instructional Design & Development, implement support desk functions in support of the Manager of Instructional Technology to include:

  • Support faculty with LMS issues related to Erikson content as they arise during each semester.
  • Develop and conduct Canvas training and orientations for faculty.
  • Research, analyze, and recommend use of existing features for the support desk software used by Erikson to provide effective solutions to Erikson learners, faculty, and staff seeking support.
  • Analyze and provide monthly report on support desk tickets to understand the trending needs of learners, faculty and staff in which TEL needs to increase support.
  • Create a more intuitive support desk framework based on support desk analysis and trends in the field, inclusive of canned responses. 

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency/expertise in technology enabled adult learning in the child development/education fields.
  • Proficiency/expertise in child development core principles. 
  • 2+ years proficiency/expertise in instructional and design software. 
  • Ability to partner with content creators such as external vendors and internal creators
  • Proficiency with technology systems and eagerness to learn and collaborate with learners and colleagues through these systems. 
  • Expert organizational skills, ability to estimate effort, define deadlines and timelines, and meet individual and team goals. 
  • Demonstration of continuous JEDI commitment and growth.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic bilingualism/biliteracy.
