The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking an experienced Learning & Development Manager responsible for supporting professional development of the organization’s employees in the following ways:

Perform company-wide developmental needs assessments to identify appropriate learning solutions for employees across the organization

Design, develop, and implement training and education to enhance performance

Drive learning initiatives to help create a culture of continuous learning and engagement

The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for improving the engagement and productivity of the organization’s employees. This position assesses the organization’s developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees. This position actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective communication methods to inform, educate, enhance, and recognize performance.

The successful candidate will possess knowledge and experience in developing and managing internal communications, managing the day-to-day operations of a learning and development program, design, develop and facilitate course content, and support other employee engagement and development initiatives. This position will report to the Vice President, Organization Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct annual training and development needs assessment
  • Design, develop, and deliver best-in-class talent development initiatives through innovative learning products and experiences focused on business goals and professional growth skills (leadership development, communication, emotional intelligence)
  • Design, develop, and deliver Human Resources training initiatives and programming (performance management)
  • Build upon existing content to enhance training and development
  • Curate LinkedIn eLearning content and create blended learning experiences 
  • Work with Human Resources and other organizational leaders to develop and maintain organizational communications to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources, as well as other employee communications, talking points, FAQs, memos and more
  • Successfully manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges and be able to deal with ambiguity
  • Continually assess learning products and programs to ensure content is up-to-date, relevant, and strategically aligned with business needs and priorities
  • Report on key metrics, gather and analyze feedback, and modify programs as needed 
  • Support VEDP’s internship program
  • Exemplify the desired culture and values of the organization

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong group facilitation skills
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives
  • Ability to design and implement effective training and development
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects and organize a schedule to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and engage in effective working relationships with employees across the organization
  • Maintain confidentiality

Experience:

  • At least three years’ experience designing and implementing employee development programs 
  • Instructional design and facilitation experience across various modalities
  • Project management, working with internal cross-functional teams
