Base salary for this position is dependent upon experience and location:

$33.29 to $41.62 hourly

Location: Moro, Oregon (hybrid work model)

The Avangrid Renewables Wind & Solar Technical Trainer will be responsible for supporting the operations of Avangrid’s wind turbine & solar fleet and for development and implementation of effective environmental health & safety (EHS) and technical training programs. This position will work closely with operations management, plant personnel, to ensure optimal processes and training are developed and delivered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review training materials, program effectiveness, and develop improvements.
  • Develop and deliver in-person, web based and self-paced training programs and encourage direct feedback driving to “best practice” across the organization. Train personnel in, technical areas, safety, and other operations related areas.
  • Work closely with management, plant personnel, , and other stakeholders to develop improvements, processes, procedures, and training across the fleet.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage external professionals who provide training or other functions.
  • Perform training at the National Training Center in Moro, OR, wind and solar plants and other locations, as required.
  • Provide support for ongoing operational needs.
  • Adhere to effective internal controls.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in, Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced computer skills utilizing, Microsoft Office Productivity Suite, data management, and reporting systems.
  • Comprehensive writing skills for development of training programs, technical documentation, procedures, and upwards reporting.
  • Requires approximately 40% travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Information Systems, or Engineering.
  • Experience in wind & solar energy production training environments.
  • Experience in power plant and electrical systems operations.
  • Fluency in writing, speaking and understanding Spanish.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, schedule and facilitate Avangrid Renewables technical training and development efforts, as required, to meet the business needs. Oversee the development and implementation of new programs and services to optimize employee productivity and provide for a qualified and safe workforce. Prioritize customer requests and technical trainer schedules as necessary, to ensure most effective use of training resources. Ensure that required training follows Company, regulatory, State and Federal mandates. Working with trainers, evaluate trainees’ proficiency during training sessions and report their performance and recommendations to regional or site managers. Identify, analyze, and prioritize skill and training requirements and develop curricula and programs to address critical gaps. Lead innovation projects to enhance the learning experience and provide an immersive approach to technical training where appropriate Frequent travel is required Performs other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Behavioral Science, Communications, Education or related field.
  • Other candidates may be considered who have a high school diploma and at least 7 years of directly related experience, as described below
  • Working knowledge of adult learning principals and methodologies
  • Experience conducting training
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • Ability to design and conduct effective training programs (e.g. instructional design, presentation skills, managing the learning environment)
  • Strong leadership abilities to navigate a matrixed environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Qualified in GE or Gamesa WTG platforms
  • Qualified in AREN Solar Program or similar
  • Experience working in the solar industry
