The Senior Training and Standards Program Manager invests in the future of Southwest’s People by providing Leadership and guidance in the daily duties of all phases of Dispatch Training and Standards. This role maintains and develops training programs that meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Southwest Airlines requirements. The Senior Training and Standards Program Manager is a Leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who looks forward to supporting impactful initiatives that drive the future of Southwest.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and obtain FAA approval for the Dispatcher training program including basic, initial, and recurrent
  • Instruct and/or monitor all instruction for Dispatch training sessions including competency and proficiency checks
  • Develop training programs and methods for enhancement of Dispatch Training
  • Maintain records and information as required for FARs
  • Assist in the development of standards and procedures for the Flight Dispatch Department
  • Maintain and update the Dispatch Operating Manual
  • Maintain Dispatch Desk proficiency in accordance with Company and federal regulations
  • Create Read before Dispatch and Training Topic documents
  • Proctor Initial Competency Checks for Domestic, Flag and ETOPS qualifications
  • Provide guidance in the daily operation of the Flight Dispatch Department and represent the NOC in cross-departmental meetings affecting the NOC and Dispatch
  • Create and deliver presentations
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Expert level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge of:
    • Dispatch experience at a 14 CFR 121 Carrier
  • Preferred: Experience with Articulate 360

Licensing/Certification

  • Must be a licensed Aircraft Dispatcher under Federal Guidelines

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be available to work varying and extended hours as needed

Pay & Benefits:

Pay of $118,600 to $131,800 per year*, with the opportunity for future increase per applicable collective bargaining agreement wage scale. Opportunities for overtime and shift premiums. If it is a TWU 550 Member selected it would be a minimum of step 7 (or current step if higher) as Mgmt. Dispatcher starting at 178,430 otherwise it will be the standard 40% target for a non SWA Dispatcher. Dispatch certificate (license) is required.
