Job Description

As a member of the Thunderbird School of Global Management Center, the Career Services Specialist Senior establishes and cultivates contacts with employers and alumni to develop internship and employment opportunities for graduate students. Provides relevant information to graduate students, and collaborates with employers on job postings and resume collection. Attends networking events and professional meetings to stay current on career and employment trends and to ensure Thunderbird maintains a presence in the recruitment community. Manages the Career Management Center’s social media channels. Alongside other Career Management Center staff, plans, coordinates, and hosts campus career events and recruitment programs. Develops and maintains relationships with campus partners and coordinates special projects as assigned. Establishes rapport with graduate students to understand their employment goals and utilizes this information in a proactive way when collaborating with employers and establishing an events schedule. Reports to Assistant Director, Employer Relations, Career Management Center within Thunderbird School of Global Management’s Student Success team.

Working Environment

  • Adhering to Thunderbird School of Global Management office dress code.
  • Lifting and carrying materials, as well as, pulling and pushing carts of up to 30 pounds.
  • Additional movement requirements include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • Sitting and standing for prolonged periods.
  • Job site is located at the Thunderbird School of Global Management building on the ASU Downton Phoenix campus.
  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%) Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (5%).
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in a related field AND three years of experience in a related area; OR, Bachelor’s degree in a related field AND five years-experience in a related area; OR, Nine years of progressively responsible experience in a related area; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Essential Duties

  • Actively hunts and maintains employer and alumni recruiting partners, including some travel for business development efforts.
  • Works with staff to plan and assist Career Management Center special events such as employer recruiting events, national career fairs, round tables, workshops and etc.
  • Stays current with new online career websites, programs, and resources (Handshake, 12Twenty, etc.,).
  • Creates and maintains a visible professional presence for the Career Management Center on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, and other social medial platforms.
  • Recommends, organizes, develops, and maintains state-of-the-art career services materials in both printed and online forms for the Thunderbird community and employers.
  • Serves as a liaison with students, alumni, faculty, staff, and administrators seeking career information.
  • Develops, plans, and presents various special projects; may collaborate with outside departments on special needs.
  • Manage the assessment of employment data and trends; performs research and interpret career and employment data and job search information databases.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Days and Schedule: Thunderbird Career Management Center serves students and alumni in the office and at events that typically take place Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with additional evenings and weekends required.
