Overview:

Facilitate internal training courses to increase both personal and professional development related skills and knowledge in support of the needs of our employees and the bank.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Increase the skills and of Commercial employees through a variety of specialized training courses focused on key Commercial systems (nCino, ERM, etc).
  • Must understand the competencies/key skills for key Commercial roles and which courses help reinforce them.  
  • Proficient in adult learning styles and adapts classroom instruction style, as needed, to meet trainee needs and determine the most effective delivery techniques for the situation.
  • Master facilitator and must be comfortable and able to facilitate courses designed in-person or virtual delivery.
  • Must gain a strong understanding of the course content to be delivered. 
  • Should be viewed as a subject matter expert in the functional area they are supporting.   
  • Work with Manager, Instructional Design team and Learning Consultant to gain thorough knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies.
  • Evaluate trainees’ performance and progress through observation, verbal questioning and a variety of assessment mechanisms. 
  • Provides coaching, feedback and directions to trainees to facilitate development of desired knowledge and skill.
  • Maintain all records necessary with respect to the progress, performance, work habits and attendance of trainees.  Address needs and problems that arise during training classes.  Escalate to manager as appropriate.
  • May be required to cross train on multiple courses/programs outside of specific functional line of training responsibility.  
  • Partner with Learning Consultants and Manager to evaluate training courses and programs and provide feedback on content and observations made in the classroom.  Make recommendations for improvements or enhancements. 
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years facilitation and/or teaching experience or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 7 years higher education and/or related work experience to include some facilitation and/or teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Will be required to obtain vendor certifications for specific training courses.
  • One year work leadership experience.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Knowledge/experience with Commercial credit process preferred.
  • Knowledge of specialized programs such as Design Thinking, Change Management, Agile, Project Management, etc. Proficient in knowledge of M&T’s Professional Development curriculum and the content of courses.  Also must understand the competencies/key skills and which courses help reinforce them. May be required to have some functional competency knowledge.
  • Focused on internal and external customer service during the delivery of all training courses.
  • Demonstrates teamwork, mutual respect and flexibility in support of the team.
  • Ability to create an effective learning environment that allows for maximum learner results.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective partner relationships.
  • Must be comfortable with providing 1-1 coaching for all levels of management.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $71,985.72 – $119,976.20 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
