Position Information

This is a primarily remote working position reporting to the Assistant Director of Academic Affairs. The Public Education Specialist coordinates teacher certification, youth, and other custom/special programs in Extension’s Academic Affairs Department. Conducts research and analyzes program content and delivery needs to secure appropriate presentation settings. Arranges logistics and ensures appropriate course materials and technology are available to support projects. Provides high-quality customer service to instructors, staff, and educational partners, second-level programmatic expert support to prospective students, and academic service support to enrolled students. 

The full salary range for the Public Education Specialist is $23.85 – $40.33 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $23.85 – $32.09 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Condition Requirement

  • Continuing education in related field. Required

Experience Requirements

  • 2 – 4 years of related experience. Required
  • Experience supporting or working in the education field. Preferred

Minimum Requirements

  • Working knowledge of delivering public educational programs.
  • Working knowledge of current public education programs and trends.
  • Working skills to produce and deliver programs.
  • Working knowledge of conducting needs assessment.
  • Good analytical skills to understand how business needs can be addressed through the design and delivery of training programs.
  • Good reading, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, and good presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of departmental and organization policies and procedures; knowledge of educational program content and objectives.
  • Knowledge of UC system tools and Extension student information systems.
  • Working knowledge of best practices for operating youth programs.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking.
