The anticipated hiring range for this position is $75,000 to $80,000.  Hiring offers will be determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience.  The recruiter can share more information about what the anticipated salary would be based upon your specific qualifications during the selection process.

Position Summary

The Manager of Instructional Design facilitates and executes instructional and program design for the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, managing production schedules for the design and development processes for curriculum.  The Manager cooperatively designs and facilitates learning projects on the Schools’ online learning platform, providing necessary support to the team, faculty, and students to include curriculum navigation and course delivery development. 

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Manages the development of multiple internal learning projects varying in size and complexity.
  • Works with faculty to develop syllabi and course guides based on faculty content and objectives, including development of suggested evaluation components.
  • Designs and develops instructional materials and relevant platform activities for web-based delivery (including both asynchronous and synchronous events).
  • Manages and executes design and deployment of overall learning solutions architecture in the MoodleRooms course management system, for multiple master’s degree programs.
  • Advises on management and execution of design and deployment of overall learning solutions architecture in the Teachable course management system, for multiple executive education courses.
  • Assists with course facilitation/navigation, providing course delivery support as needed for faculty throughout the duration of the online course.
  • Manages production schedules on behalf of the team as they engage professional faculty and subject matter experts throughout the design and development process for content validation and content delivery.
  • Posts and maintains a variety of learning materials, including the management of written, audio, database, and video assets.
  • Oversees the editing of video lectures and other video content for online courses, including ensuring the accessibility required.
  • Collaborates with the MoodleRooms learning platform’s technical teams and perform regularly scheduled platform testing and quality assurance reviews (and report back to the team as needed).
  • Facilitates production of live virtual webinars and meetings.
  • Oversees production of course materials for in-person residencies. Assists with execution of in-person residencies.
  • Leads development of new resources for student success.
  • Leads instruction for students on Learning Management (LMS) platform tools. Provides training and assistance for students for LMS challenges and acts as a faculty liaison.
  • Attends regular project team meetings and provides regular status updates on activities, identifying any issues or challenges.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field of study related to Education, Communications, or Instructional Development.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working as an Instructional Designer, Curriculum Developer or a related position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Strong interest or experience in food business highly desirable.
  • Working experience in Food System / Food Business sector preferred.

Required Skills

  • Must be familiar with online learning platforms, understand the framework of learner-focused team-based learning, and excel at integrating social media strategies to publicly share relevant content.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills required.  Must have demonstrated ability in organizational, time management, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information clearly and simply.
  • Strong computer experience, which must include abilities to work effectively with Google apps, Canva, and MS Office suite products, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment, and maintain collaborative relationships with all members of the team.
  • Detail oriented and thorough.

Working Conditions 

  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.
  • Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work independently from any location, with excellent internet access.
  • Regular work requires the use of a computer, sometimes in excess of eight (8) hours per day.
  • Must be able to travel due to business needs.
