The Learning and Innovation Spec-1 (LIS) is a critical instructional technology consultant for Augusta University faculty, staff, and students. Augusta University students, leadership, faculty, and staff rely on the LIS for consultation, training, systems analysis, and support for using enterprise instructional technologies, including learning management, lecture capture, secure digital assessment, course evaluation, communication, and collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Instructional Systems Consultation: Provides systems administration and/or systems analysis for support and troubleshooting for enterprise instructional systems for students, faculty, and staff, including support for student digital testing and associated urgent incident resolution. Assists with testing protocols for instructional technology adoptions.
  • Professional Development, Training, And Consultations: Provides customized training and documentation for individuals and groups for enterprise instructional systems. Collaborate with colleges to develop and implement faculty, staff, and student orientations using the variety of modalities and formats available.
  • Quality Assurance: Consult and advise faculty and academic leadership on the use or potential use of new or existing instructional technology tools. Support and incorporate evidence-based instructional design practices developed by the Center of Instructional Innovation. Look for patterns in how instructional technology positively or negatively impacts students, faculty, and staff and intervene with training, process engineering, or new instructional technology solutions to improve that community’s teaching and learning experience.
  • Collaborative Actions With Augusta University: Assists with projects that have a broader university impact, to ensure that all programs have the support they need before, during, and after product and feature rollouts, system upgrades, and other potentially challenging instructional technology experiences.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related field of study and 3 years experience in a relevant field of work.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Instructional/Educational Technology, or related field, experience in a higher education environment, and teaching and/or training experience. Experience either directly performing business operations through the use of an automated information system or in a technology support role for these business operations. Experience assisting users with troubleshooting information system applications and excellent interpersonal communication.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Knowledge of analysis and instructional design techniques

Knowledge of documentation needs and techniques.

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Skills in dealing with a variety of personalities while working to accomplish detailed and technical tasks
  • Skills in training and teaching others and the ability to speak effectively in front of an audience with an engaging style.

Abilities

  • Ability to type 45 wpm
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to conduct and evaluate system testing.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Day; Monday-Friday (work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Grade: 18

Salary: $48,434/ annually – $50,341/ annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
