Job Description

The Instructional Technologist I provides support to faculty and students. The work of the instructional technologist includes assisting instructional designers and faculty with learning management system (LMS) functions and other necessary online learning resources. The instructional technologist supports students through facilitation of the Student Online Learning Orientation. This position has a customer service focus.

Essential Functions

  • Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and
    Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the
    community.
  • Provide technical support to faculty and staff related to the College’s online learning
    management system.
  • Facilitate the Student Online Learning Orientation and provide student support throughout
    the process.
  • Provide support for software related to instruction and course delivery.
  • Develop instructional web and media-based interactive learning objects (tutorials, demos,
    training modules.)
  • Provide training and assistance to faculty using the college’s learning management system
    and other distance learning tools. Develop and lead professional development opportunities
    for faculty and staff on instructional tools.
  • Provide technical support for all online learning management system instructional
    initiatives to improve learning outcomes, facilitate technology-rich teaching and advance
    curricular innovation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

  • Associate’s degree in an appropriate field from an accredited college or
    university, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Familiar with technology tools used to deliver online content.
  • Familiar with instructional design principles and online learning best
    practices.
  • Strong ability to communicate online using e-mail, chat rooms, video
    conferencing and other technology based on communication media.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities.
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
