Instructional Designer

Accountability Statement  

This position will plan, organize, develop and analyze training curricula, materials, elearning and programs to meet specific training needs and business goals. Works with management to ensure course materials are current and relevant to training needs. Facilitates training during introduction of new courses. Tracks and analyzes training programs by examining learners’ satisfaction levels, proficiency testing and job performance. Provides mentoring and guidance to trainers on all aspects of instructional design.

Essential Job Functions

Note: This position can be based in Jacksonville, Orlando or Atlanta

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer
  • Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs
  • State instructional end goals and create content that matches them
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, skill practices, games etc)
  • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required:

  • 3+ years’ experience in designing training/curriculum
  • Strong working knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design models
  • Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with one or more of the following is highly preferred: Camtasia, Adobe Illustrator, Captivate, Storyline
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System
  • Visual design skills and experience in storyboarding
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts

Education

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in related field or formal accredited training in instructional design methodologies
