Job Summary

The Instructional Designer will design and develop learning experiences that result in the successful transfer and application of knowledge, skills, and/or behaviors. The discipline of standard work will follow a system of assessing needs, designing a system of delivery, developing assets, and evaluating effectiveness.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop a basic understanding of the subject matter through provided materials, as well as conducting independent research. Assess needs and apply appropriate instructional design approaches along with adult learning theories to determine the most appropriate modality for delivery of content, and present recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Develop scripts and storyboards to identify strong concepts that can be used in visualizing the instructional content and communicating strategy to SMEs and stakeholders; in short, to own the storytelling aspect of the visual content as appropriate.
  • Design instructional materials for varying modalities including facilitator guides, job aids, ILT/vILT presentations, micro-learnings, and computer-based trainings. Ability to source and select stock images, videos, and other assets to create a narrative that supports the key instructional points while maintaining the organization’s branding and messaging standards.
  • Engage and communicate regularly with stakeholders throughout the design and development process to ensure a thorough understanding of objectives and requirements, and communicate content of discussions clearly within the team. Cultivate relationships and develop strong partnerships across the business areas Learning supports.
  • Conduct design and deliverables’ walkthroughs with stakeholders and reviewers, implement revisions to content, and resolve conflicting feedback. Review deliverables for to ensure accuracy, completeness, compliance with standards, and consistency with the approved design before final delivery.
  • Participate actively in Learning COE, project meetings, and other forums. Demonstrate critical thinking and decision-making at the workplace to determine solutions for business problems.
  • Devise modes of assessment aligned to learning objectives, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the learning asset when in scope. Ability to QA courses/assets across delivery modalities. Ensure compliance with Corewell policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree In Adult Education, Human Resources, Education Technology, Learning Technologies or related field is essential.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in designing, developing, and curating learning and performance that achieves business objectives.

Preferred

  • Instructional systems design degree preferred.
