Boston Hybrid Location Note: The majority of the position will be performed remotely; however, the offeree must reside in the Greater Boston area and be willing to work-on-site several times throughout the year for training and facilitation role requirements.

About the People & Diversity Team

The People & Diversity (P&D) team leads engagement related to attracting, retaining, rewarding, and ensuring equity and the wellbeing and development of our greatest asset, our people. Critical to the progress of Ceres’ mission, this team leads initiatives to curate a culture of inclusion and belonging while diligently attending to the workforce needs of Ceres. 

About the Role

The Instructional Designer and Training Facilitator is an individual contributor role that highlights the skills of a true learning and development role. This person will be responsible for the development, implementation, and facilitation of learning materials identified in the organization’s learning strategy. The role will emphasize design and implementation of content relevant to leadership development, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, and other learning and professional development topics. We are looking for a creative, people-centered, strategic learning and development professional with an equity and inclusion mindset and an interest in developing a feedback culture.

The Instructional Designer and Training Facilitator role is full-time and reports to the Director, People & Diversity. Candidates may work remotely but will occasionally be required to work in the Boston office and therefore should reside within a commutable distance to Ceres‘ Boston office for training facilitation other occasional needs. Candidate must be flexible to work with employees in all US time zones, but within standard work hours.  

Specific duties include but are not limited to the following: 

Training and Professional Development 

  • Design and facilitate a wide array of professional development programs to support Ceres’ culture of learning and development.
  • Oversee design and delivery of the staff onboarding and training experience, including introduction to Ceres’ values and theory of change.
  • Partner with colleagues, where appropriate, to develop training and development strategies that fit team and organizational needs.
  • Track and measure the effectiveness of each aspect of the learning and development program and make updates to curriculum and/or program as necessary.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and action plans to address identified gaps in leadership/management capability or capacity across departments.

Culture and Employee Value Proposition 

  • Provide strategic leadership and project management for Ceres’ Best Self Review performance management and professional development review process. This involves evaluation development, communication, strategy, and training.
  • Partner with hiring leaders, HR leadership, and Senior Management to create a plan based on trend analysis.
  • Manage Ceres’ mentoring program.
  • Support employee communication and change management strategies.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of full-time experience in training and organizational development with progressive growth in positions required.
  • Experience in curriculum/instructional design and facilitation.
  • Experience developing and providing workplace trainings both in-person and virtually. 
  • Strong facilitation, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Strong familiarity with performance review processes.
  • General understanding of employment law and Human Resources, a plus.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Well-organized with superior project plan development and project management skills and proven experience in connecting people and projects across functional areas.
  • Demonstrated experience as an effective verbal and written communicator.
  • Experience creating, selecting, and/or using systems to support people development, employee retention, and establishing and driving metrics.
  • Experience in designing and/or supporting employee engagement strategies and programs preferred.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and a can-do attitude to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective collaborator and ability to perform all duties appropriately in a multicultural environment, while treating all persons with dignity and respect and experience being flexible, efficient, and diplomatic with diverse constituent groups.
  • A commitment to working in a mission-driven organization with a strong level of curiosity to understand what is going on in the organization in order to make sound recommendations and choices about people development and employee retention.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, self-awareness an ability to lead with empathy and inquiry, experience developing trusting relationships with colleagues, and an ability to manage confidential information.
  • Skilled in using technological solutions for employee development and retention.
  • Knowledgeable of the Microsoft Office Suite (outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, teams, SharePoint), and comfortable with CRM systems such as Salesforce.
  • Interest in being part of a diverse workforce and willingness to support Ceres’ Commitment to Inclusion and Equity.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Compensation and Benefits  

The hiring salary is $86,500 – $92,000 with competitive benefits. Ceres offers fantastic benefits including opportunities for hybrid and remote work; 82% or 85% (depending on your coverage election) employer paid health insurance and 90% employer paid dental insurance; a 403(b) retirement plan with a generous match that starts on day one; generous allowances for commuter and work from home expenses; flexible spending accounts to set aside money on a pre-tax basis for eligible expenses; 10 holidays, generous vacation, and additional paid time off including a week-long winter break, summer Fridays, and sick, personal, and parental leave.
