The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and developing learning solutions for employees and agents. Instructional designers will have the capabilities to work with subject matter experts and identify the key tasks and knowledge required for success and then translate that information into a training solution to build that knowledge and skill in others.

The Instructional Designer will be familiar with how to develop instructor-led training, online remote training, online self-paced training, training videos, as well as other creative methods for delivering training content. The instructional designer will also be familiar and capable in developing testing instruments including knowledge checks, quizzes, and high stakes testing as well as interpreting the validity and reliability of the instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed comprehensive learning programs and curriculum for enterprise tools, technology, and contact center needs based on adult-learning best practices and Instructional Design theories.
  • Build full-scale instructor led (ILT) courses that contain single or multi-day presentations, participant guides, facilitator guides, and resource guides.
  • Design eLearning (ELT) courses that contain self-guided content review, simulations, knowledge checks, and accompanying reference guides for diverse audiences.
  • Develop engaging learning activities and content reinforcement activities that learners will utilize to enhance their understanding of the core material.
  • Partner with internal customer groups to understand the business training goals and timelines for development.
  • Analyze training needs associated with the introduction of new tools, procedures, and technology to ensure the validity of job specific training content.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create learning plans, detailed course outlines, and learning content.
  • Obtain stakeholder approval of content to ensure consistent quality of learning solutions across Cox Automotive
  • Develop exams and evaluations to assess the effectiveness of training and enable continuous improvement.
  • Conduct “train the trainer” sessions and other training delivery to ensure instructors can deliver training consistently and effectively.
  • Actively research and implement instructional best practices and new learning technology to ensure that effective learning methods are incorporated into Cox Automotive programs.
  • Manage vendor relationships regarding the design and development of training products to ensure adherence to standards and best outcomes for Cox Automotive.
  • Manage client learning requests and monitor progress of all design projects.
  • Manage and ensure product content accuracy as needed to reflect and align with organizational initiatives as it pertains to new hire curriculum, product knowledge, systems, or processes management.
  • Evaluate and modify existing training programs to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with all regulatory, environmental, safety, and contractual obligations.
  • Partner with internal customer groups to understand the business training goals and timelines for development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 2 years experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and up to 2 years experience; or 6 years experience in a related field
  • 2-5+ years of Instructional Design experience (with minimum of 2 of those years focused on virtual design) required
  • Proven experience designing, and developing learning deliverables for blended, virtual, self-paced, and in-class delivery (including use of eLearning
  • Authoring software, such as Articulate Storyline
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time to our Centers of Excellence locations across the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in the area of Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Psychology, or related field preferred and/or sufficient on-the-job experience.
  • Automotive experience is a strong plus, but not a must.
  • Experience in developing position certification paths preferred.
  • Experience with Articulate Rise, Camtasia Studio, VYOND, PollEverywhere, Adobe Creative Suite (PremierePro, After Effects, Audition, Captivate) and Virtual Classroom (including WebEx Training center, Skype for Business, GotoMeeting) is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, self-directed environment to meet organizational timelines.
  • Understands instructional design practices and options, and collaborates with stakeholders to identify opportunities, increase knowledge retention, and content enhancements.
  • Independent thinker with strong collaboration skills
  • Detail oriented and self-starter
  • Exceptional planning, prioritization, and project management skills to manage multiple activities
    Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products, Adobe tools, LMS
  • Proven experience analyzing needs for a variety of learning events to determine learning objectives and learning lifecycle
