Position Summary:

The Instructional Designer will be the main point of contact for all training content related to American Equipment University (AEU), and training programs within the company. This role will work with SME across the organization to create new training to improve our employee’s knowledge and skills in their roles. The Instructional Designer will be responsible for creating new content, centralizing existing content, and updating training that has already been created.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and designs courses and curriculum.
  • Edits and develops online learning materials.
  • Creates learning experiences and environments.
  • Designs learning activities, assignments, and assessments.
  • Creates computer-based training (CBT) modules and storyboards.
  • Develops instructor’s manuals, rubrics, and other teaching tools.
  • Collaborates with subject experts to develop course content.
  • Analyzes, updates, and refines existing online content.
  • Trains instructors, students, and employees in how to use learning technologies.
  • Keeps current on best practices in instructional design.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of instructional theory, including assessment
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS)
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Experience with design platforms, such as InDesign and Illustrator
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical colleagues and clients
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines

Education and Experience

  • BS, MS, or higher degree in instructional design, education, or related field
  • Teaching or administrator’s license a plus
  • Experience as a classroom instructor
  • Minimum 5 years of previous experience in instructional design

Work Environment

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. The role is Hybrid, with 1 day weekly required at the corporate office in Salt Lake City Utah.
