The Instructional Designer will report to the Senior Director Online Programs and work closely with the Chief Information Officer to support the University schools in advancing its pedagogical goals and objectives by working alongside faculty and program leadership in the design, development, and build of courses taught online.

Essential Functions

  • Works closely with faculty to clearly articulate course objectives, requirements, and assessment criteria for various learning modalities.
  • Consults on the design and development of faculty-generated and curated course materials, multimedia assets, assignments and various types of assessments.
  • Applies universal design, backward design, learning theories, multimedia design, and best practices in online learning to enhance student learning experiences, meet the course goals and objectives, while complying with accessibility standards.
  • Collaborates with instructional technologists to analyze various educational technologies to support the various learning modalities.
  • Acts as a primary contributor to build high-quality, engaging course activities and elements in learning management systems for various learning modalities.
  • Collaborates with media specialists to design and produce video materials that effectively serve the learning goals and objectives.
  • Maintains accurate records and data of feedback for all supported courses for quality assurance, continuous course improvement, student retention and support, and reporting purposes.
  • Works with faculty to regularly diagnose the course revision needs based on the needs and expectations of the learners and the changes in business practices.
  • Keeps current with emerging learning design, instructional design, instructionaltechnology, assessment strategies, evaluation methods, and quality best practices.
  • Participates in faculty development projects that are designed to improve faculty preparedness in course design, delivery, and assessment in various modalities.
  • Creates and maintains tutorials and online learning resources for faculty and students to support the integration and delivery of educational tools and applications, as well as effective online teaching practices.

Additional Functions

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

  • Advanced degree in learning design, instructional design, education, educational technology or a related field is required.
  • 2+ years of experience applying learning theories, evidence-based pedagogical strategies in the design and development graduate level online courses, preferably business courses.

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

  • Successful experience in supporting diverse faculty and student populations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching university-level courses.

Minimum Starting Salary $68,000

Maximum Starting Salary $75,000
