Job Description

The School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy (SEMTE) is seeking a full-time meticulous, data driven, muti-tasker to serve as their Curriculum Planning and Analysis position. This includes Tempe and Online campus course schedule coordination and building, oversight of school-controlled spaces, scheduling rooms and assistance with planning events, ordering course textbooks, and will serve as back up to our front desk.

Essential Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitates implementation of curriculum goals and objectives as established by the Curriculum Planning and Analysis Sr. and Program Chairs through management of the SEMTE course schedule and data entry of instructor class funding
  • Builds, maintains and oversees the schedule of classes for the AEE, CHE, MAE, MEE, MSE, and BDE prefixes
  • Coordination of textbook ordering for all SEMTE courses
  • Acts as roster contact for department
  • Schedules final exams each semester per university scheduling guidelines
  • Assists with coordination of SEMTE advising events
  • Acts as back up to the SEMTE advising front desk by greeting and interacting with students, faculty and staff; scheduling student advising appointments and answering emails within the general SEMTE inbox
  • Works closely with the graduate advising team on scheduling culminating events, including sending out confirmation emails and defense announcements
  • Data analysis by running and manipulating reports in excel using programs such as Amazon WorkSpaces, Analytics, PeopleSoft, Astra, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved

Desired Qualifications

  • Strategic thinker and self-starter: ability to problem solve, apply critical thinking, and time management skills.
  • Project Management (university scheduling experience preferred).
  • Collaborative Thinker: Working independently as well as a member of a team.
  • Analytical mindset: organizing, collecting, analyzing and reporting a variety of data in written, verbal and electronic formats. Experience with Peoplesoft, Astra, Analytics, is a plus.

Evidence of:

  • Higher education or related experience.
  • Strong technology skills in systems such as Peoplesoft, Excel, SharePoint, Google Suite, Teams, Outlook, etc.
  • High level of customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Working Environment

  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended period of sitting.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Ability to work both independently or within a complex structured team.
  • Normally receives no instructions on routine work and general instructions on new assignments with review of completed tasks.
  • Exercises judgment within generally defined practices & policies in selecting methods & techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Interact with a diverse set of national and international students.
  • Work environment may require a combination of in office and telecommuting depending on space constraints.
