Essential Responsibilities Of The Staff Curriculum Developer, 6-12 Math

Develop

  • Contribute to the development of Amplify Desmos Math curriculum by designing and building new curriculum materials (lessons, teacher materials, assessments, etc).
  • Creatively ideate lessons and activities that both delight and engage students and meet the needs of schools and teachers to cover specific standards.
  • Designs for real classrooms in creating materials that are doable, not overly ambitious, flow makes sense with real students and real teachers.

Collaborate

  • Work closely with members of the Graph, CL, and Illustration teams to produce the highest levels of usability, accessibility, and delight.
  • Provide constructive feedback on existing and in progress lessons, offering ideas for improvement. Offer feedback in written form and also via video chat because conversation is a natural way humans think together.
  • Receive, synthesize, and strategically implement feedback from other team members to improve and polish the curriculum materials
  • Support and be supported by the rest of the team throughout your tenure at Amplify.

Grow

  • Learn about Amplify and our philosophies for technology, design, pedagogy, accessibility, and equity (see resources below).
  • Grow as a leader in math education curriculum development by engaging in professional learning.

Influence

  • Hold institutional knowledge of our house style and advocate for it in new development.
  • Identify ways that our approach to equity (see resources below) can further inform our work, in terms of the products we make, the processes we use to make them, and the ways we interact with our teammates.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coaching and Development. Provides professional learning and targeted support, as needed across the 6–12 Math Curriculum team, in a specific area, as identified by the 6–12 Curriculum Development leadership team.

Minimum Qualifications Of The Staff Curriculum Developer, 6-12 Math

  • Bachelor degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience teaching mathematics in 6–12 classrooms
  • 8+ years of experience in curriculum development or similar role
  • Experience with curriculum development and related experience in mathematics education.
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project leadership and planning skills.
  • Alignment to team and company values around technology, design, pedagogy
  • Shared commitment to team efforts around accessibility and equity work
  • Experience contributing to a positive, cohesive culture while ensuring the ability to hit high quality standards and ambitious timelines.

Preferred Qualifications Of The Staff Curriculum Developer, 6-12 Math

  • 2+ years of experience with curriculum development in digital formats and/or 6–12 mathematics
  • 10+ years of experience in curriculum development or similar role
  • High proficiency with web-based mathematical authoring tools, including Desmos Activity Builder and Google Docs

Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a 401(k) plan, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The gross annualized salary range for this role is $105,000 – $112,000. This role is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.
