The Global Learning and Knowledge Management (GLKM) is seeking a learning professional with extensive experience in instructional design and strong results in transferring training into performance results. This individual will be responsible for leading design projects that will transform learning into a more engaging and interactive process. We are looking for a leader that is accustomed to working in a matrix environment and will partner with leaders and designers to define needs, translate business requirements into performance-based learning and execute innovative learning strategies. The ideal candidate will be able to apply advanced adult learning theories into a practical application-based training strategy. The incumbent will manage the overall curriculum design for the programs and processes they manage while collaborating with Instructional Designers and partners to implement the design products. 

They will closely partner with GLKM team members in delivering a globally consistent training experience that directly impacts the success of American Express and our internal clients. The goal of all programs designed will be to deliver a world class learner experience and drive measurable positive business impact, including top box customer satisfaction results. The successful candidate will have experience in conducting training related Analytics/Design and Development/Implementation with overall program evaluation. This role will have the ability to influence and drive results in a highly collaborative environment while performance consulting with key business leaders on their long-term business needs. The ability to communicate effectively in visual, oral and written form and deliver engaging presentations to business leaders is a critical skill for success. The ideal candidate will design learning strategies that will leverage e-learning and other delivery methods that will support the acceleration of learning as measured in business performance. The ideal candidate will be able to articulate their vision on how training can help deliver performance results that will help our customer care professionals in key measures of customer satisfaction. Proven experience as an Instructional Designer in a global corporate organization is preferable with strong proficiency with industry standard design software (including Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate Storyline 360 and Captivate) and multimedia experience including video production is essential.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Plan and handle instructional design projects
  • Be an expert user and mentor of all approved learning design software used on the team
  • Contribute to development and design processes and templates (i.e., best practices, review/feedback, etc.
  • Be a leader with vision in instructional design and innovation for best practices and groundbreaking technology, collaborating with other learning professionals and business partners in delivering a globally consistent learning experience
  • Promote collaboration, partnership and relationships among the participants and partners in a design project
  • Consult, analyze and apply advanced adult learning theories to design and develop application-based learning with the ability to convert strategies to effective and engaging learning experiences
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to design team peers
  • Develop comprehensive measurement strategies to show business impact and efficiency of learning solutions
  • Communicate optimally in visual, oral and written form and deliver engaging presentations to business leaders

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working in an agile (SAM) and waterfall (ADDIE) design environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent on-the-job experience is required
  • Design learning that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners, including the proven understanding of cultural differences that may apply
  • The ability to apply concepts, techniques and theory of other disciplines to instructional design assessment strategies
  • Extensive experience designing, developing and delivering emerging learning solutions including game-based learning, video, micro-learning, simulations and immersive scenarios requiring multiple branching elements
  • Strong proficiency with industry standard design software (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite, Storyline and Captivate)
  • Strong project management and leadership proficiencies to achieve design target timelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in contact center environments and travel industry is strongly preferred
  • Masters in Adult Learning and/or Instructional Design/Technology preferred

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
