We deliver industry-vetted courses and career support centered on the needs of Black, Latino/a, Indigenous, and low-income students. As of 2023, we’ve served 10,000 students a year nationwide, and we plan to scale up to ~100,000 students a year by 2028.

About the Role

Compensation: $165,000 to $200,000 per year

The Senior Director of Learning will spearhead CodePath’s Learning team in revolutionizing post-secondary computer science education. Working in tandem with senior leadership, this role focuses on elevating graduation rates and fostering prosperous careers in technology for students from underserved communities. Through close collaboration with organizational leaders and team members, the Director of Learning will elevate the quality and efficiency of CodePath’s educational experiences to unprecedented levels.

The Senior Director of Learning will own the refinement, strategy and programmatic implementation  of the pedagogy, technology, and systems central to our students’ personalized education. Joining a team that currently serves up to 10,000 students each year, they will be responsible for enhancing the impact of our curriculum, scaling the reach of our programs to 100,000 students annually, reducing the incremental cost of each additional student served, continually improving our operational infrastructure, and delivering a student experience that maximizes student achievement and technical excellence.

Our ideal candidate has a deep understanding of learning science and the principles of educating college students to become top-tier software engineers. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in education, who is skilled in designing learning experiences that drive mastery and can lead diverse teams with complementary skill sets. The role involves advancing the integration of mastery-based learning with innovative AI technologies, enhancing the educational experience for both students and educators. Key Success Metrics

  • Industry-Ready Graduates: Enhance the level of rigor of industry readiness among our graduates for immediate career success
  • Program Capacity Expansion: Scale our programs’ capacity from 10,000 to 20,000 students in 2024, and to 100,000 students by 2029
  • Efficiency in Scaling: Improve cost efficiency in program delivery while increasing program scale, targeting an incremental cost of $500 per student or less
  • Uniform Quality Assurance: Maintain consistent, high-quality student experiences across all participating universities
  • Personalized Student Experience: Foster greater personalization within each student’s journey by combining mastery learning with 1-on-1 tutoring

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive learning strategy that supports CodePath’s mission to scale from 10,000 to 100,000 students annually by 2029
  • Align annual and quarterly plans with the organization’s objectives to ensure consistent and high-quality learning outcomes across all programs

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Lead and manage the Curriculum and Instructional teams, including program managers, curriculum developers, and program operations
  • Establish a high-performing team culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and excellence
  • Mentor and coach instructors, technical fellows, and staff to ensure growth and continuous improvement

Program Delivery & Expansion

  • Oversee the design and implementation of scalable systems and processes to deliver high-quality, industry-aligned programs
  • Lead the expansion of existing offerings and the development of new programs to meet the evolving needs of students and industry partners

Curriculum & Pedagogy

  • Drive curriculum innovation by incorporating rigorous, industry-aligned content, adaptive and mastery-based learning
  • Collaborate with internal teams to design and refine scalable course architecture that delivers personalized learning experiences, monitors student success, and improves retention rates

Operational Efficiency

  • Ensure the delivery of programs in a cost-effective manner
  • Implement process improvements and system optimizations to support long-term scalability, maintaining high-quality standards while driving efficiency

Innovation & Experimentation

  • Lead efforts in experimentation and innovation to continually refine program delivery and integrate AI-driven tools for enhanced personalization and student engagement
  • Design and test scalable solutions that improve student outcomes and ensure CodePath remains at the forefront of educational technology

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of management experience leading teams of 15+ people
  • Proven experience crafting differentiated and innovative learning experiences
  • Experience scaling educational programs and course delivery
  • Experience designing, authoring, or influencing course curriculum
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, navigating ambiguity
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve common goals
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to convey information clearly and concisely
  • Fosters a culture of high performance and a high degree of psychological safety through constructive feedback, empathy, and active listening
  • Strong project management skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize and balance multiple projects
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a remote work environment, autonomously and self-motivated
  • Experience managing remote teams and collaborating across time zones
  • Experience educating, training, or mentoring Computer Science students is a plus
  • Have enthusiasm for and belief in our mission and vision

Compensation

CodePath has standardized salaries based on the position’s level, no matter where you live. For this role, we’re hiring for a Senior Director level position at an annual salary of $165,000 to $200,000. Salary is determined based on your relevant experience and skills as evaluated through our interview process.

$165,000 – $200,000 USD
