The Professional Learning Design Director is a visionary leader who oversees the strategy, development, and execution of high-impact professional learning programs for educators and school districts. This role is responsible for driving the organization’s professional learning initiatives, ensuring that all training programs align with client needs and organizational goals. The Director will play a pivotal role in leading a team of instructional designers and trainers, collaborating with cross-functional departments, and maintaining a focus on continuous improvement and customer success.

Position Information: This is a regular, full-time position, reporting to the VP, Professional Learning & Development and Customer Success. 

Compensation: Base pay is anticipated to be between $102,773 and $115,000 per year. Eligible employees may also receive incentive/commission/annual bonus pay based on individual and/or company performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as, but not limited to, individual skills, experience, training, education/certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and local market conditions.

Location: In this US-based position your location will be remote.

Envision Your Experience.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for professional learning programs that aligns with company objectives and addresses the evolving needs of educators, schools, and districts. 
  • Lead a team of instructional designers, trainers, and subject matter experts to create innovative, research-based professional learning experiences for K-12 educators. 
  • Oversee the design and delivery of diverse learning solutions, including workshops, coaching, webinars, on-demand resources, and blended learning experiences. 
  • Ensure scalability and impact of training programs by implementing processes and systems that optimize design, delivery, and evaluation across all offerings. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, marketing, sales, and customer success teams to ensure professional learning programs align with broader organizational goals and drive client satisfaction. 
  • Analyze market trends, educational research, and client feedback to continuously evolve professional learning offerings to meet the changing landscape of K-12 education. 
  • Foster strong relationships with district leaders, administrators, and educators by maintaining a client-centric approach to training design and delivery, ensuring programs are responsive to their needs. 
  • Monitor and report on program effectiveness, using data to inform decision-making and continuously improve professional learning outcomes. 
  • Mentor and develop team members, building a high-performing professional learning design team that consistently delivers quality training solutions. 
  • Lead the design and implementation of comprehensive training programs that support both new product adoption and ongoing educator development.

Share Your Expertise.

Experience, education, and qualifications essential for success in this role, include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field and a minimum of 10+ years of experience in professional learning, instructional design, or education leadership; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.  
  • Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or Instructional Design strongly preferred. 
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams of instructional designers, trainers, or educators, with a track record of developing high-impact learning programs at scale. 
  • Deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and best practices in K-12 professional development. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, driving collaboration and alignment between departments to achieve organizational goals. 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and adapt to changing priorities. 
  • Experience with digital learning platforms, LMS systems, and educational technology tools to enhance the delivery and effectiveness of professional learning. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including district leaders, educators, and internal teams. 
  • Experience with data-driven decision-making, including analyzing program effectiveness and using insights to refine learning strategies. 
  • Familiarity with K-12 standards, instructional best practices, and policy changes that impact the professional development landscape. 
  • Expertise in the Science of Reading and K-5 literacy, with a proven ability to implement evidence-based reading instruction strategies.
  • Experience in coaching educators on English Language (EL) curriculum, providing guidance and support to enhance instructional practices and student outcomes.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, with a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement in professional learning. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM systems is required.
