Position Summary

The Assessment Development Manager will collaborate and consult with senior curriculum team leadership to guide and support the design and development of assessment-driven learning pathways. This individual will collaborate with stakeholders across Nightingale College to ensure assessments meet the goals of the program and that assessment best practices have been followed. The Assessment Developer will serve as a key spokesperson and point of contact for assessment needs within the designated program area(s). The Assessment Developer will interface with instructional designers and psychometricians to lead efforts to design, develop, deploy, and maintain valid and reliable assessments and measurement instruments; to ensure all program requirements are met; and to ensure industry standards and processes are applied to and aligned with program goals and objectives.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

  • Review concerns, troubleshoot problems, as well as establish technology requirements for assessment design, development, management, and maintenance.
  • Participate in the development of assessment-driven learning pathways, diagnostic assessments, and rubrics for college programs.
  • Provide leadership and advocacy for innovative, valid, reliable, cost-effective formative and summative assessment approaches including, but not limited to, objective assessments and rubric-driven performance assessments.
  • Ensure alignment of assessment traverse with proficiencies, skills and outcomes in programs and courses.
  • Collaborate to ensure alignment of assessment traverse with course learning material and student engagement strategies.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in education, Instructional Design, Nursing Education, or a related field is required, a PhD or EdD with education focused is preferred.
  • Familiarity with higher education assessment best-practices.
  • Experience with formative and summative assessment of learning.
  • Experience developing objective and performance-based assessment.
  • Experience developing analytic and holistic rubrics.
  • Experience training and calibrating rubric evaluators.
  • Demonstrated experience with process development and implementation.
  • Demonstrated success with project and change management.
  • Experience in higher education or educational publishing.
  • Experience selecting and implementing assessment technology solutions at scale.

All new hires are required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will pay for travel and lodging accommodations.
