Digital Learning Technologies provides services, technology, and infrastructure that support the teaching and learning mission of the University of Utah. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Learning Experience Technologist with strong experience in Instructure Canvas and add-on tools as well as video capturing and editing competencies to join our team.

Position Overview: As a Learning Experience Technologist, you will support faculty in leveraging Instructure Canvas to enhance teaching and learning experiences. Your role will involve providing technical support, creating training materials, and developing video content to ensure effective use of Canvas. You will collaborate closely with faculty, av classroom installers, learning experience designers, faculty consultants, and university staff to facilitate the integration of technology in the classroom with a strong emphasis on accessibility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and training to faculty on the use of Instructure Canvas and add-on tools.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions, workshops, and webinars on centrally-supported teaching tools.
  • Create video tutorials and guides to support faculty in using teaching tools effectively.
  • Work with faculty to include multimedia elements into their courses.
  • Conduct needs assessments and gather feedback from faculty to continuously improve offered services.
  • Create and edit instructional video products.
  • Assist faculty in the design and organization of Canvas courses to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in educational technology.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and effective support for faculty.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.

Preferences

  • Proven experience with Instructure Canvas, including course design and technical support.
  • Proficiency in video capture and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Camtasia).
  • Strong understanding of instructional design principles and educational technology.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality support.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Strong understanding and previous experience with Adobe products (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition).
