Summary of Position:

As PetSafe Brands’ (PSB) Learning and Development Manager, you will work with the Director of Learning & Organizational Development on the Human Resources team to evolve our recently centralized L&D Center of Excellence (COE).  In this role, you will identify organizational learning needs and design, develop, and deliver talent development solutions that advance PSB’s business strategy while setting high standards for training excellence. Your expertise and experience in designing and delivering engaging content and programs will enhance the engagement, productivity, and performance of our teammates and leaders. Responsibilities:

  • L&D Strategy and Execution: Partners with the Director of Learning & Organizational Development to create an integrated talent development and performance management strategy and leads the design and delivery of L&D initiatives.
  • Instructional Design Expertise: Applies the ADDIE model (or similar approach) to identify skills, knowledge, or performance gaps and design, deliver, and manage learning solutions – for staff, professional, and management-level teammates – which include but are not limited to in-person or virtual instructor-led workshops, digital e-Learning courses, assessments and coaching, and leadership programs.
  • Facilitation: Facilitates and/or leads a team responsible for facilitating courses and programs such as New Teammate Orientation (NTO), Expression of Interest (EOI) job shadowing program, and our annual Career Development Week.
  • Management and Professional Development: Design, develop, and deliver training for managers and teammates on topics such as performance ownership, candid conversations, growth mindset, and management effectiveness, among other career and professional development topics and skills.
  • Leadership Development: Partners with the Director of Learning & Organizational Development and PSB Executive Team to design, develop, and deliver leadership programs.
  • Technical and Compliance Training: Administers annual compliance training leveraging third-party compliance content and serves as a consultant to our customer service and technical training team as needed.
  • Maximize Learning with Technology: Responsible for the effective administration and utilization of PSB’s Learning Management System (Workday Learning) and the integrated content from vendor partners such as compliance courses and the LinkedIn Learning library.
  • Program Effectiveness: Evaluate the effectiveness of learning solutions through surveys, assessments, and performance metrics, and make continuous improvements and strategy recommendations.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Leads and engages our Diversity Champions to execute our DEI strategy, promoting an inclusive culture where all teammates feel they belong.
  • Collaboration: Collaborates with department leaders and subject matter experts to develop or source customized training materials and programs as needed.
  • GlobalMindset: Partners with HR Business Partners and global offices to align and promote engagement in learning and development initiatives and programs.
  • Vendor Management: Source, evaluate, and manage vendor partnerships as needed.
  • Budget Accountability: Manage and track expenses to meet the L&D budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.

Specifications:

  • Proven experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and facilitation with a focus on manager and teammate development.
  • Knowledge of learning and development principles, adult learning theory, curriculum design, needs assessments, and evaluation methodology.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver training for varying audiences including field, staff, and corporate teammates and leaders.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and other training delivery platforms and technology (e.g., Workday Learning).
  • Experience with authoring tools (e.g., Articulate).
  • Experience leading DEI initiatives, preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to facilitate training and propose new ideas with clarity and simplicity
  • Ability to develop relationships effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Certifications to facilitate assessments or vendor content such as Clifton Strengths, DISC, Situational Leadership, or others, is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or related field)
  • 5+ years’ experience designing, developing, and delivering learning and development initiatives

Accountabilities:

  • Metrics associated with L&D initiatives as well as teammate engagement and performance (e.g., engagement survey data, retention rates, course/program attendance, learning transfer assessments, and course survey data)
  • Manager Effectiveness Index and Talent Development Index
  • L&D budget allocation
