The Enterprise Curriculum and Experiences (ECE) Learning Design team brings together human-centered and instructional design practices to create high impact learning experiences for associates across Capital One. We power development experiences that span a wide range of audiences and topic areas including Leadership Development, Onboarding, and Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DIB). Our team works collaboratively with business leaders and HR partners to research, design and develop learning experiences that build critical skills and capabilities across the enterprise.

As Learning Design Manager, you’ll lead a team of talented and experienced Learning Designers tasked with creating learning and development experiences across a wide portfolio of enterprise initiatives. You’ll own the intake and prioritization of learning design initiatives across ECE, work collaboratively with program and intent owners across the broader team, and take an active role in mentoring and developing the skills of the learning design team.

What you’ll do

  • Include, empower and inspire a team of Learning Experience Designers with backgrounds in Instructional Design and eLearning Development to:
    • Leverage evidence-informed adult learning models, methods and modalities to create effective learning experiences.
    • Influence stakeholders to adopt innovative learning solutions where appropriate.
    • Incorporate the latest learning design software and tools for rapid development.
    • Design interactive learning initiatives that span all methods and delivery modes (digital, video, audio, classroom, virtual classroom, experiential, mobile, social, etc.).
  • Work closely with ECE Program Leads and department leadership to prioritize work and align learning design efforts to areas of greatest leverage and impact.
  • Partner with business leaders and HR partners to conduct needs assessments that identify learning needs of our associates across the enterprise.
  • Build well-managed infrastructure to ensure learning design output is consistent with organizational guidelines and meets a high standard of learning excellence.
  • Create and communicate project roadmaps that provide line of sight to partners and stakeholders on upcoming offerings.
  • Operate as a strategic thought partner to Learning Leaders across Capital One U to ensure enterprise offerings align to the needs of partners in Job Family and Line of Business Learning teams.
  • Continually research, evaluate and share relevant market, industry and landscape trends to create customer-grade learning experiences.

What you’ll bring:

  • Demonstrated experience leading a team of learning professionals, with a focus on building team culture and developing the skills of learning designers
  • Deep expertise in how adults learn in a large, matrixed organizational workplace
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing learning journeys across all modalities and delivery methods
  • A strong connection to the Learning and Development field, with knowledge of industry trends and practices
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to communicate with leaders across all levels of the organization
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to operate in ambiguity

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Certification
  • 3+ years of People Leadership experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a Learning Designer building designing learning experiences across digital and in-person learning environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a People Leader leading Learning Design teams
  • 7+years of experience as a Learning Designer building designing learning experiences across digital and in-person learning environments
