Job Summary:

The Learning and Development Trainer/Assessor is responsible for developing and implementing components of the CU Cancer Center learning and development program. This position will take part in establishing and maintaining methods, tools and systems related to the development, delivery and tracking of staff education and training requirements. Conduct training programs for the staff as well as develop training and resource materials for distribution. The incumbent will be expected to collaborate across the CU Cancer Center, including partner and affiliate departments and institutions to identify training needs, communicate expectations and requirements to staff and track completion of required trainings.

Key Responsibilities:

Learning and Development Trainer and Assessor (65):

Intermediate Level:

  • Facilitate trainings according to job duties or curriculum defined by learner’s career ladder and update onboarding/training plan templates to ensure compliance with institutional requirements.
  • Conduct training to enhance compliance with clinical research requirements, responsibilities, and regulations.
  • Work closely with direct supervisor, Operations team and other Cancer Center departments and staff to identify and implement ways to support, standardize and improve onboarding and training practices.

Senior Level:

In addition to all responsibilities expected of Intermediate level:

  • Automates record keeping of staff competencies and enhances components of the career ladder competency program including environment, trainings, coordination with Human Resources and supervisors, etc.
  • Coordinate, develop and plan education and training sessions for CU Cancer Center staff covering a variety of topics for both new and experienced staff based upon determined needs. Forums for training may include in-person trainings, updates at departmental staff meetings, or web-based training.
  • Assists and supports activities related to provision of CEUs to attendees for applicable educational sessions.

Instructional Design / Course Development (20%):

Intermediate Level:

  • Work with Cancer Center units on educational design needs and determine course-related training needs Create instructional materials, lesson plans, assessments, and other course materials in various formats.
  • Assess course effectiveness and student performance, revising materials as needed.
  • Assist with piloting new courses and provide training/support for using educational technologies, including tutorials and workshops.

Senior Level:

In addition to all responsibilities expected of Intermediate level:

  • Coordinate instructional activities which may include the logistics for distance delivery technologies.
  • Follow emerging and novel practices and research in oncology training, education, and instructional design.

Responsible Oversight (15%):

  • Centralize and maintain ownership of training materials, staff training certifications (Credly), and progress reporting.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule. The primary days of being in the office would be dedicated to training days and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Intermediate Level:

  • BS or BA in education, organizational development, public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, healthcare, business administration, business, communications, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in training and/or staff development or hands-on experience with course management systems, specifically Canvas.

Senior Level:

  • BS or BA in education, organizational development, public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, healthcare, business administration, business, communications, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in training and/or staff development or two (2) years’ experience with various instructional technologies and pedagogies, such as audio and video recordings, authoring software, teleconferencing, or a closely related substitute.
    • Substitution: For both levels relevant work experience can be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in training and development, education, or instructional design in an academic or academic medical setting.
  • Prior research or clinical research experience.
  • Prior oncology experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be willing to present in front of audiences of varied sized and stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, work under deadlines, efficiently and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer skills; Intermediate proficiency in Windows and Office 365 applications including Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and OneDrive; project management software, and Google docs.
  • Possesses basic knowledge of HTML coding to design activities in learning management system.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

Intermediate Level: $54,383 – $69,175

Senior Level: $58,793 – $74,784

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
