As a member of the Learning and Development team, the successful Learning and Development Specialist will be responsible for developing online, self-service eLearning courses with interactive elements, and lessons for virtual instructor-led training, etc. and overall will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating training programs for employees across the organization. This role requires the ability to collaborate with stakeholders, to identify training needs and to develop effective learning solutions to address those needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key activities:

  • Designs and implements effective, and engaging training programs using a variety of delivery methods (e.g., instructor-led, eLearning, job aids, virtual, assessments, infographics, etc.).
  • Designs and develops rich multimedia content, including audio and video assets, graphics, illustrations, animations, and interactive content for any digital content, and runs quality assurance testing on all the resources prior to launch.
  • Applies creative thinking and domain expertise to the development of innovative training programs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Supports the development of virtual instructor-led learning courses and materials, incorporating gamification and interactivity into the instructor-led environment.
  • Researches and incorporates best practices on adult learning and educational technologies to support training efforts
  • Stays up to date with industry trends and best practices related to learning and development
  • Recommends technology tools and platforms to support overall learning objectives
  • Works closely with subject matter experts on content creation (storyboards, scripts) for training resources.
  • Demonstrates an energetic attitude and facilitation skills to present information using a variety of instructional techniques and formats to enhance learning

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Adult Education, Instructional Design or the equivalent
  • CTP Qualified/CTDP or equivalent designation is an asset
  • Experience designing, developing, and/or implementing eLearning courses, and interactive web-based and instructor-led resources in an adult education environment
  • Proficient using Articulate 360 as an instructional design tool
  • Experience using Canva, Vyond, and Adobe Creative Cloud products such as Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Proven knowledge and application of adult learning principles and instructional principles and/or methodologies
  • Experience developing materials for Workday or a similar ERP system implementation is also an asset
  • Experience working with different LMS is an asset including Workday
  • Effective consultation and communication skills working with multiple stakeholders
  • Travel would be required to long term care locations occasionally
  • Proven ability to manage various projects and meet deadlines, accurately estimating time required for deliverables
  • Flexible team player able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated creativity skills
