Job Description Summary

The Junior Instructional Designer is responsible for assisting with training needs and helping deliver learning solutions to onboard customers and address performance gaps. This individual will utilize instructional design and performance improvement processes to assist with analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional materials. He/she will work with our Senior Instructional Design Lead, in addition to key stakeholders and subject matter experts to achieve and deliver these learning solutions.

The Junior Instructional Designer will design and develop learning solutions for multiple delivery methods including instructor-led, web-based, virtual classroom, and blended instruction.

What You’ll Do (Functions & Responsibilities)

  • Participate in discovery meetings and help conduct interviews to confirm performance and/or instructional needs. Work with Senior Instructional Design Lead and subject matter experts to define learning solution objectives to ensure recommendations for change can be measured and is linked to business goals.
  • Participate in design sessions with Senior Instructional Design Lead, key stakeholders, subject matter experts, managers, and project teams.
  • Proactively work with technical subject matter experts to capture course-specific knowledge.
  • Innovate and create standardized project documentation to meet the need of frequent updates to stay on the cutting edge an in-step with system releases; including design templates, standards, style guides, technical specifications, straw models, train-the-trainer, and pilot materials.
  • Write concise, creative, and effective instructions. Course deliverables for instructor and participant materials include design documents, storyboards, prototypes.
  • Ensure that learning solutions incorporate best practices in adult learning theory.
  • Assist with design and development of curriculum level learning systems.
  • Ensure the final project deliverables are released on time and meet the highest quality standards.
  • Implement measurement and evaluation strategies to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of learning solutions on performance.
  • Provide input into work plan creation, advising on the length of time required to design, develop, and complete learning solutions.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For (Minimum qualifications)

  • 2-3 years of experience in Instructional design software
  • Understanding of Instructional systems design and theory
  • Industry best practices in facilitation, training, and blended learning solutions
  • Streaming audio and video, file types, and formats
  • Sound organizational learning practices
  • 2-3 years work experience in e-learning design and development of instructional materials and producing creative learning solutions. Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design preferred.
  • 2-3 years experience with Articulate or comparable instructional design software.
  • Demonstrated research and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing learning solutions.
  • Consulting capability with strong interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong level of professionalism and credibility; able to effectively challenge and influence peers and customers.
  • Familiar with current learning and performance improvement industry standards, approaches, and innovations.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring others.
  • Samples of instructional course work completed is required.
