The Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW) is a university-wide system school with an MSW Program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education since 1923 and a BSW Program accredited since 1975. The IUSSW is headquartered at Indiana University-Indianapolis (IUI) and also houses the Department of Labor Studies. IUSSW enrolls over 2,000 across programs. Guided by an authentic commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the IUSSW is nationally and internationally recognized for educating leaders of tomorrow through community-engaged practice, research, and partnerships to positively impact individuals and society. This position, along with the many other joint initiatives of the IUSSW and the DCS (Department of Child Services), advances a long-term partnership between the IUSSW and DCS.   

Job Summary

This position will be part of the BSW MSW Education contract between IUSSW and the Department of Child Services.  They will work with IUSSW faculty to develop instructional content for the Department of Child Services for their FCM (Family Case Manager) Assessment Program.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Works with IUSSW faculty to develop course content for the DCS FCM Development Program. 
  • Collaborates with IUSSW faculty and DCS program managers to identify best course delivery options for each course. 
  • Develops content through the use of Articulate Rise or other approved author ware.
  • Collaborates with Learning Governance Director at DCS to make sure all content can be delivered through Success Factors Learning, the DCS learning management system. 
  • Provides consultation and support for planning, testing, and implementing instructional technology to support learning and instructional assessment.

General Responsibilities

  • Consults and serves as an experienced resource in planning, testing and implementing instructional technology projects that support innovative approaches to learning, instructional and assessment.
  • Maintains currency on emerging technologies related to learning management systems, active learning classrooms, electronic collaboration and social networking, instructional use of multimedia, electronic conferencing and online instruction to help faculty make evidence-based decisions about the use of technology.
  • Researches, stays up-to-date, and recommends appropriate technologies for developing materials, delivery mechanisms and course/instructor/student assessments to support effective teaching.
  • Develops and designs workshop materials that promote technology strategies in traditional and online courses and conducts individual, group and large audience training sessions.
  • Collaborates in larger initiatives and working groups to support university efforts to improve teaching and learning.

Education

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in computer science, instructional technology/design, or related field

Preferred

  • Master’s degree

Work Experience

Required

  • 2 years of experience in instructional development and/or instructional technology consulting, and/or training, and/or teaching (face-to-face or online); OR
  • Experience providing instructional design with online instructional technology, preferably in a higher education context

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Work Location

Indianapolis, Indiana

This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), which is subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
