Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a skilled Instructional Designer to create engaging learning and practice experiences for learners. The primary objective is to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies in an effective and captivating manner.

As an Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for designing instructional materials-primarily from content developed by others, and incorporating instructional design principles and technologies. Your expertise in curriculum development and instructional strategies will be crucial in ensuring the delivery of high-quality learning experiences.

Ultimately, your role will contribute to the success of learners by fostering their growth and development through well-designed and impactful instructional programs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the learning journey of individuals.

What You’ll Be Doing:

The responsibility of the Instructional Designer is to analyze and fix disconnections between subject matter content and learning performance using available tools.

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer
  • Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs
  • State instructional end goals and create content that matches them
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc)
  • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders

What Skills & Qualifications You’ll Bring:

  • Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology
  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System
  • Visual design skills (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or demonstrated experience in curriculum design and development

Salary Range: 

$50.10 – $87.69
