The Penn State College of Engineering’s Office for Digital Learning (ODL) is seeking an Instructional Designer to join our team. The candidate hired for this position will focus on the design and development of credit-bearing courses in a synchronous or asynchronous online or hybrid delivery mode and/or non-credit micro credentials.
The Instructional Designer – Advanced Professional partners with clients (faculty, staff, and industry partners) to develop educational structures for resident, online, and professional learners; applies learning science principles to the design of innovative and effective learning experiences; integrates strategies for leveraging instructional technology; and collaborates with clients and information / instructional technology staff to resolve issues related to technology use in teaching, including application assessment, content development, and deployment methodologies.

Requirements and Qualifications:
This position requires a master’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience. Degrees in instructional design, learning science, or a related field are preferred.
ODL is a highly collaborative unit, and the successful candidate must possess strong organizational skills and demonstrate an effective interpersonal communication style. In addition, the Instructional Designer must have expertise in effective instructional design practices and negotiation strategies to meet the objectives of the tasks and projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in applying the Quality Matters framework to course design and have experience creating courses which meet accessibility requirements. A background in STEM and STEM education and knowledge in Canvas and canvas Catalog are pluses.
