A Brief Overview

Instructional Designers are responsible for developing effective online training for staff and providers across Stanford Health Care. This is achieved through proper assessment, planning, development, delivery, and support of Electronic Health Record (EHR) and technology online education in partnership with various stakeholders. At their core, Instructional Designers develop eLearnings and manage an online knowledge base to ensure robust and in- depth remote training for users outside the classroom. Instructional Designers are also tasked with assessing the impact and scale of each digital training campaign to optimize and improve each iteration

What You Will Do

  • Develop and maintain digital content (ie. eLearning, snippets) for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop appropriate digital training solution(s)
  • Provide timely and accurate reports to stakeholders regarding training completion rate and volume
  • Assign appropriate eLearning modules for required training
  • Complete administrator duties within Learning Management System
  • Manage and report various Informatics Education metrics and surveys
  • Training & Education
  • Assess, design, develop, and maintain online training/education storyboards, documents, materials, and files.
  • Support achievement of target educational goals for various departments, projects, or employees.
  • Collaborate with other trainers, educators, Informaticists/Analysts, and Subject Matter Experts to ensure delivery of effective and accurate online training to impacted users.
  • Collaborate with the Information Technology Department, business leads, other stakeholders, and management in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of online training programs.
  • Integrate knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and guidelines into educational programming.
  • Assign appropriate online training for users.
  • Document and monitor new hire EHR/Technology competency.

  • Recommend improvements to existing digital offerings.

Education Qualifications

  • Associate’s in Instructional Design, Instructional Technologies, Adult Learning, or other related degree or equivalent combination of Education/Experience Bachelor’s preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 4+ years of Instructional design experience

  • Knowledge
  • Understand health care workflows and EHR/Technology functionality.
  • Integrate general medical terminology during training development when appropriate.
  • Apply EHR/Technology knowledge to assess education requests and end-user needs.
  • Apply industry-standard adult learning, online training, and coaching principals and methods.
  • Identify metrics that monitor training program efficacy.
  • Experience working with the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) preferred.

  • Intermediate-level professional with moderate online training development experience. Learns to apply existing skill set within the context of EHR/Technology education.   • Performs the more routine online training development and execution. From a learning capacity, completes basic education materials, project supports project, and other duties.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $64.58 – $85.57 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
