What You’ll Do

The Instructional Designer works with wider Learning & Development peers and the Canadian Retail Central Operations Team to design and develop learning solutions for delivery though virtual, face-to-face, or self-led learning, during all stages of store development and growth. This can be in support of Annual Strategic Priorities, Business As Usual Activity or as required in response to the changing needs of the Business. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, storyboard and build high-quality learning products such as eLearning and live virtual and in-person learning solutions to support ongoing skills and knowledge development for Retail Team Members, including Retail and Optometry Partners, Opticians and Eyecare Consultants.
  • Create learning resources, instructional materials, participant and facilitation guides, presentations, job aids, Huddles and other learning resources and reference materials
  • Become Subject Matter Expert and additional administrator for our in-house Learning Management System (LMS) 
  • Provide first line technical support for learning management solutions (LMS, virtual learning rooms, collaboration channels etc); investigate and resolve technical issues associated with learning systems and tools. Partner with our vendor for 2nd line technical issues.
  • Design and moderate virtual learning rooms and collaboration channels.
  • Act as a technical reviewer during the development and production of digital learning assets.
  • Conduct data analysis and statistical reporting to demonstrate measures of success and learning ROI.
  • Proactively work with other departments and project sponsors to ensure a ‘one team’ approach to Retail Team Member Development
  • Actively participate in continued professional development

What We’re Looking For 

Essential

  • 5+ years of experience in learning and development, e-Learning development and instructional design roles, in a Retail context
  • Excellent knowledge of e-learning authoring and digital production/editing tools (Articulate 360, Rise, Vyond, Camtasia, Adobe Creative, InDesign etc)
  • Strong understanding of- and experience applying- a Systems Approach to Training
  • Demonstrated proficiency using training technologies to produce a variety of learning products including eLearning, classroom training materials, blended learning programs, microlearning, learning guides, webinars, and videos.
  • Skilled in virtual classroom production tools/skills (MS Teams)
  • Proficiency in MS Office and excellent skills in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Strong customer obsession and deep interest in the personal and professional development of others
  • Ability to self-manage in order to plan, prioritize and deliver a heavy workload, at pace, in a flexible manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving and growing business
  • Ability to adapt to short notice change
  • Ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships
