Title: Instructional Designer

Compensation Range: $84,500 – $99,500
Location: Louisville, KY

Purpose of the Job:

Responsible for needs analysis, design, development, and evaluation of training in a variety of modalities, including: online, virtual instructor-led or in-person learning, including leader materials, simulations, paper-based training materials, engagement components, workshops, assessments) to support various KFC-US product, people development, process or system initiatives.

Must have the ability to drive a focus on building people capability through innovative and creative training solutions, and gain alignment with Cross-Functional partners.

What You’ll Be Cooking Up:

Project Management (25%)

  • Gain alignment with cross-functional partners and key stakeholders to influence training strategy.
  • Set timelines and work with cross-functional partners to meet key deliverables.
  • Manage multiple-moving parts of projects as needed.
  • Create and manage full-cycle training project plans incorporating the ADDIE model, including tracking and recognizing key milestones, managing training budget and costs, etc.
  • Ensure deliverables are on time, on budget, and meet expectations.
  • Partner with outside vendors to deliver projects that meet expectations on time and within cost

Design/Develop Training Solutions (65%)

  • Leverage ADDIE model to deliver large-scale learning designs.
  • Own the design and development of full-cycle training programs, tools, and resources, applying various scalable approaches (paper-based, eLearning, instruction, short-form videos, micro-learning, gamification, etc.) that best support the learners’ needs and business needs.
  • Leverage storytelling techniques to captivate learners, simplify complex concepts, and enhance comprehension and retention in instructional content.
  • Influence and gain alignment from all cross-functional partners and their respective leadership to ensure they have reviewed and approved content.
  • Design and develop innovative solutions that use a variety of technology tools and that may launch from the Learning Management System.
  • Lead the creation, deployment, and continuous improvement of training programs to support the KFC system.
  • Manage existing role-based curriculum and components and update as needed.
  • Consult with cross functional partners to evaluate their training solutions, and provide expert knowledge that will elevate the effectiveness of those solutions.
  • Problem-solve current business issues and creatively identify learning solutions to positively impact business need.

Build Know How (10%)

  • Serve as instructional design expert on project who challenges the status quo by offering creative solutions.
  • Clarify and align on the learning objectives for each project and link to performance.
  • Educate cross-functional partners on the roles and accountabilities of training.
  • Continually look for ways to improve training design to increase training efficiency and produce top business results.
  • Stay up to date on learning industry trends and innovations.
  • Curious mind-set with a passion for our restaurants.

Evaluate Effectiveness of Training Initiatives (5%)

  • Measure, monitor and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of training delivery processes.
  • Determine, implement, and evaluate data collected on training effectiveness, including from LRS.

The Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Communications, or similar degree).
  • Years of Experience – 2-3 years of experience in a related training role.
  • Understanding the practical application of ADDIE model and adult learning theories and principles.
  • Well versed in learning developer software programs and similar programs used to develop content.
  • Experience in full scale learning curriculum design and execution at various levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively navigate ambiguity by adapting to changing priorities, making informed decisions with limited information, and maintaining progress on projects despite uncertainty.
  • Proficient in utilizing and managing Content Management Systems (CMS) to organize, update, and deliver instructional content.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic, forward-thinking, and creative with high standards.
  • Desire to continuously learn and innovate.
  • Well-organized and self-directed individual with strong project management skills and a team player.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with good judgment and strong operational focus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to make successful presentations to individuals/groups at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to influence various partners, including teammates, cross-functional partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong follow-up skills and ability to hold accountability at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving capability – to analyze issues and use creativity to identify resolutions.
