Responsibilities

We believe the Instructional Designer is crucial to the delivery of memorable learning experiences within an organization. They possess the expertise and knowledge necessary to design and build effective training programs aligned with the organization’s learning goals and driving results. As an Instructional Designer, you will work with other members of Navistar University, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to analyze training needs, design training programs, and develop training materials that meet the need of the business and appeal to all learning styles. In this role, you will create new learning experiences, update or maintain existing curriculum, and constantly innovate the way we learn at Navistar.

  • Be optimistically curious, try new things, investigate new ways of utilizing the tools and technology of today and plan for the future.
  • Partner with Learning and Development Consultants / subject matter experts (SMEs) to design/develop learner-centric solutions to be delivered through a variety of methods (instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, web-based, videos, social learning, blended, etc.).
  • Own your learning projects from initial needs analysis with Learning and Development Consultants through post-launch evaluations and build learning experiences that learners will talk about!
  • Create learning experiences from scratch or utilize existing materials or templates.
  • Collaborate with Navistar University team members, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to determine desired outcome, create a plan, and deliver an outstanding experience.
  • Present SMEs with options to meet their learning needs and suggest the most effective approach to your Learning and Development Consultant.
  • Understand business needs, opportunities to close knowledge gaps, drive learner success, and propel Navistar toward our 2030 goals.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 8 years of learning/development experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience

OR

  • Master’s degree
  • At least 6 years of learning/development experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience

OR

  • At least 10 years of learning/development experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

  • Mastery of instructional design principles, training techniques, and adult learning theories with proven experience in designing and developing learning solutions and experiences including the development of material for multiple delivery modalities
  • Expert writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate ILT/VILT sessions; Facilitate learning programs, as needed
  • Excellent project and time management skills
  • Keen sense of attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality product

Benefits and Compensation

Navistar provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $95,200 – $142,800 a year.
