The Creative Learning Design and Delivery team is hiring an Instructional Design Project Manager. The team supports Enterprise-wide and Functional HR Learning and Development initiatives. We collaborate to design, deliver, and innovate custom learning solutions to support the Company’s highest priorities. These solutions range from broad initiatives, like Onboarding and Performance at Disney to custom, highly impactful, Executive and Leadership experiences that align to specific business goals and personas.

The wide range of development needs across HR functions requires a high degree of analytical ability to identify gaps, creativity to propose and strategically plan and develop solutions appropriate to the situation, and agility to continue progress through rapid pace of change.

What You Will Do

You will be responsible for end-to-end design and development of learning programs and solutions. This includes performing multiple functions on a project in partnership of the requestor, including consultative services, strategic planning, project management and resource needs identification, needs assessment, implementation of innovative learning methodologies, project team leadership, and evaluation to continuously improve products and programs in sustainment.

The ability to quickly evaluate the business needs of the audience with Program Managers and functional partners and decide the suitable scope to reach the desired results is an essential part of this role. You will identify the vital content, framework, and creative methods, partnering with talent applying blended experiential media approaches to enhance learning effectiveness and engagement.

Reporting to Manager, Learning Design, you will simultaneously lead multiple projects of varying complexities and with different points of contact. Priorities change rapidly, so pivoting through ideation is an absolute requirement.

A Day in the Life

  • Engage in deep consultation with business partners, leveraging knowledge of business and business issues to propose effective learning solutions and strategies.
  • Design and develop high-quality learning solutions balancing speed to market and scale.
  • Develop traditional classroom and virtual learning solutions as well as develop online learning solutions using tools such as Articulate 360 (Rise & Storyline)
  • Own the lifecycle of a project, including initiation, designing project plans, completing all milestones and tasks, monitoring risk, and successfully reaching stated learning goals.
  • Author scripts and other course materials, applying various writing styles and demonstrating an expertise in grammar, punctuation, spelling, company nomenclature, and copyright compliance.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams where outcomes depend on true collaboration, enabling every member of the team to bring their best.
  • Use comprehensive learning and consulting expertise to know how to integrate with key partners and influence stakeholders to build consensus.
  • Ensure that all learning solutions reflect our company’s values related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Utilize multiple sources of information and extensive business knowledge to solve complex business problems and impact a range of customer or employee service activities/outcomes.
  • Build relationships with partners to become an ongoing trusted advisor.
  • Manage sophisticated projects and programs independently.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in the design and development of learning programs
  • Practical expertise within instructional design, project management, user experience (UX) design, micro learning, social learning, accessibility, and inclusive design
  • Demonstrable knowledge of related specialties, such as Visual Design, Learning technologies, Executive and Leader Development, Career, and Talent/Performance
  • Leadership experience and consultation acumen
  • Proven track record with courseware development tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Articulate Storyline and Rise

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience related to Learning Theory, Design Thinking, Human Resources, Project Management, or Instructional Design

The hiring range for this position in California is 92,000 to 113,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
