Role Summary

This role will manage a team of training and learning technology/education content professionals responsible for the strategy, design. development and implementation of global training. It will manage the development and maintanance of educational courses and tools in support of clinical research, medical, safety, and regulatory colleagues worldwide and enterprise training.  This role understands the cutting edge digital environment for learning and implements accordingly to make the appropriate type of learning accessible. Learning management systems, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, game-based learning, new content providers, collaborative learning, video sharing, mobile learning, on-demand learning, new forms of assessment, and learning/education tools are all changing rapidly and the role requires an understanding of the current landscape of the learning technologies and methods.

This role understands cutting edge digital environment for learning and leads to make the appropriate type of learning accessible. Furthermore, this role directs education, training, and development programs to ensure maximum effectiveness, engagement and colleague experience.

Job Responsibilities

  •  Expertise in advanced learning systems and tools to progress the learning curricula at Pfizer and modernize the learning systems
  • Manage team responsible for design, development and deployment of training and educational tools supporting clinical research, medical, safety and regulatory procedures, regulations, and continued skills development 
  • Responsible for assessing the overall training and development needs, developing, implementing and overseeing large scale and global training initiatives & programs
  • Lead and develop new concepts and ways to design, develop, update and implement instructor led, online and written training and education solutions
  • Drive the use of new technologies including gamification, mobile learning, guided learning, microlearning, virtual or augmented reality, and artificial intelligence (AI) in learning tools
  • Use industry knowledge and external partnerships to ensure connection to current relevant training trends
  • Manage and direct the team on the use of sound instructional design knowledge/experience and adult learning methodologies to create storyboards, script, course content, learner guides and learner instructions
  • Influence and partner with Learning and Development and Digital Teams to drive improvements in learning management system/infrastructure
  • Develop and implement metrics to assess the effectiveness and business impact of instructional design programs and materials/tools developed
  • Manage a rigorous process to gather feedback on content and pro-actively conduct regular content reviews to adjust/update/refresh as required
  • Be the expert in learning management systems, theories and principles of training
  • Align team resources to develop best in class eLearning content
  • Guide, coach, and support instructional/Sharepoint designers
  • Lead/support integrations, divestitures, and special projects as needed
  • Maintain a current and working understanding of various interactive and engaging technologies available for use in online courses and programs, including various cutting-edge and interactive technologies, such as AR/VR, adaptive learning, and artificial intelligence
  • Ensure inspection readiness for training and education content development processes; support/respond to audit/inspection requests
  • Budget management: manage budget for global training and educational programs

Qualifications/Skills

  • Advanced degree in in the fields of computer science, design and technology, new media, learning sciences or instructional design
  • PhD with 10 years, or MS with 12 years of relevant experience in leadership of digital content development and management, including experience leading transformative learning/education initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of learning solutions and related business process technologies such as content management, digital/eLearning, virtualization modalities (VR/AR), learning analytics, gaming, social learning, AI
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, development as well as project management expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, highly complex projects concurrently
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate effectively
  • Ability to implement large-scale change in complex, matrix organizations
  • Required Computer Experience:  LMS administration and processing; proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Sharepoint development and maintenance, course development products (e.g. Articulate, Storyline) and survey tools
  • Experience working globally with organizations/teams/individuals/leadership
  • Strong leadership, communication, motivation and team building skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in evolving and rapidly changing environment that is client-driven.
  • Business knowledge of Clinical Research & Development, Quality, Pharmacovigilance and/or Regulatory in the pharmaceutical industry strongly desired 
  • Experience in contracting process including budgeting, RFPs, SOWs and vendor management
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Work Location Assignment: On Premise

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $191,300.00 to $318,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
