Who We Are:

The Modern Classrooms Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers educators to build classrooms that respond to every student’s needs. Founded by two award-winning teachers, we lead a movement of educators in implementing a self-paced, mastery-based instructional model that leverages technology to foster human connection, authentic learning, and social-emotional growth.

To date, we have reached over 85,000 teachers through our free online course and 15,000+ teachers through our Virtual Mentorship Program from over 200 school, district, and state partners. We are an ambitious, idealistic team led by former classroom teachers, and we are passionate about what we do.

Job Description:

The Director of Learning Design will empower thousands of educators worldwide to meet their students’ needs by ensuring that the teachers we serve have the resources and learning experiences required to understand and implement our instructional model effectively.  This team member will manage all teacher-facing content we leverage to train and support teachers, including our free and premium online courses, resources we provide freely on our website and social media platforms, and webinars and PD materials. This team member will also optimize the learning experiences we offer to teachers in our training programs and contribute to the design of our credentialing programs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Director of Learning Design will report directly to the Vice President of Programs and will work on three key areas:

Professional Learning Design – We offer free and premium online courses for teachers to learn our instructional model and deepen their implementation of our model, as well as ongoing support to teachers who have already completed our training. The Director will:

  • Identify, plan, and create teacher-facing PD materials including how-to guides, templates, checklists, etc.
  • Prepare content for educator-facing webinars and presentations, as well as content that educators can use to share our model with their own networks.

User Experience – The Director of Learning Design will ensure that our training programs and online courses provide user-friendly, accessible, and responsive learning experiences for our educators. The Director will:

  • Conduct user interviews and focus groups with our educators and teacher leaders.

  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Programs, the Senior Program Operations Manager, and contractors to ensure that our learning management systems are responsive to our users’ needs.

Credentialing Design – Our credentialed teacher leaders are a dynamic group of educators worldwide who share their expertise with our community through creating content, leading webinars and events, and training other educators as Expert Mentors. The Director will:

  • Design materials to support the promotion of our credentialing programs.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Programs and Senior Manager for Teacher Leadership to improve existing and design new credentials.
