IM seeks to ensure that students, particularly students who have historically been underserved, and their teachers have access to aligned, grade-level, mathematics curriculum resources, and that teachers experience professional learning that leads to enduring mathematical learning for their students. 

The team: The Curriculum Development Project Manager is a part of the Product Strategy and Development team which drives the direction and success of the organization’s product strategy, roadmap, and development, aligned to IM’s vision and goals. The team develops and executes strategic plans and initiatives to meet clients’ and partners’ needs by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to define product requirements and develop innovative solutions that support and enhance the IM classroom experience. Critical to that experience are the team’s talented group of math educators, designers, and technologists whose highest priority is setting up students and teachers for success with coherent, standards-aligned, equity focused, problem based PreK-12 curricula and professional learning products.

Position Summary

The Curriculum Development Project Manager works alongside the Product Strategy and Content Development teams, as well as across various cross-team collaborations to assist in the definition of project scope and objectives; manage and document myriad workloads; and support conversations with internal and external stakeholders to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Product Development.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities

  • Work and convene with other community partners to define project objectives and project scope, identify and document project requirements, and ensure technical feasibility within the project lifecycle.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation (including spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps) to monitor and track projects.
  • Work with team members to monitor and report on the status of project milestones and deliverables. 
  • Identify project risks and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Manage changes to the project scope and project schedule in Asana and/or other project management tools.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time with quality and consistency.
  • Efficiently coordinate employees and independent contractors across multiple concurrent curriculum projects.
  • Report issues that arise during a project to the appropriate manager.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors performing work related to a project.
  • Support and manage processes and systems alongside the Curriculum Product Manager to meet partner requests.
  • Hire, manage, and train Curriculum Development Coordinators over time, as needed
  • Complete other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of related work experience; or an equivalent of related, relevant work experience.
  • Three to five years experience as a K-12 educator and/or experience in K–12 educational publishing
  • Two to three years experience with current IM curricula and PL products.
  • Experience with Google Drive.
  • Experience with project management software tools, specifically Asana
  • Experience in cross-functional team collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible and able to embrace shifting priorities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, teamwork, problem-solving, and time-management skills.

  • Must reside in and be legally authorized to work in the USA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Asana as a tool for project planning and communication
  • Experience in coaching project team members to help strengthen their abilities and skill sets
  • Strong computer skills with cloud-based systems, especially Google workspace applications, Zoom, and Slack 

Compensation & Benefits

We offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience and education, an employer-sponsored 403b plan annual contribution equal to 4% of regular earnings, and a comprehensive group health benefits package, including medical, dental and vision. This position is exempt. In alignment with our commitment to equity in practice and policy, Illustrative Mathematics is committed to equity and transparency for our team and offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience and education. The salary range for this position is $90,000 – $96,000. This position is exempt.
