Responsibilities

About the Sr Instructional Designer – HR 

The Senior Instructional Designer – HR is responsible for taking the lead in supporting GM Financial’s learning needs across the organization. This individual will consult with internal customers across multiple business units to analyze, design, develop, deliver and evaluate engaging learning experiences and graphic design solutions according to industry best practices and adult learning theory. Through learning solutions, they will support skill and competency development of employees and leaders as necessary to meet or exceed individual and team performance expectations and organizational business objectives. 

What you will be doing:

  • Partner with internal customers to evaluate performance gaps and/or organizational needs and recommend appropriate learning and graphics solutions through research and a consultative process
  • Write, design, and maintain content for remarkable learning experiences This includes, but is not limited to design and curriculum plan documents, facilitator and participant deliverables, e-Learning modules, job-aids, activities, scenarios, scripts, etc
  • Remain current on instructional design practices and adult learning theories and keep a pulse on the future of learning in the industry
  • Design and develop content across multiple mediums including but not limited to classroom-based instruction, e-Learning, social learning, self-study, virtual instructor-led courses and webinars
  • Manage project plans, adhere to critical dates, and communicates progress to all appropriate parties
  • Partner with internal customers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to determine project depth and scope as well as critical milestones, curriculum and content
  • Perform various learning admin functions within the Learning Management System and Social Learning module when needed
  • Lead and oversee the visual design aspects of projects and collaboratively create compelling visual concepts within branding guidelines

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge in instructional design theories and graphic design principles
  • Curriculum writing, content development and learner assessment adapted to the GM Financial culture and tone
  • Advanced knowledge of program and/or project management
  • Advanced knowledge of leadership development training aligned with adult learning theories
  • Expert proficiency in learning development software including Articulate Suite, Vyond, and Adobe CC Suite
  • Proficiency in Graphic design software and tools including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, Audition
  • Construct PowerPoint presentations, participant guides, facilitator guides, job aids performance support tools for virtual and face to face delivery
  • Create interactive and engaging e-learning solutions including gamification elements, micro learning and blended learning
  • Accommodate different learning styles and account for learner modality preferences in design
  • Successfully manage multiple projects and establish priorities to meet deadlines
  • Effectively facilitate meetings, communications and group processes at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Adapt to changes in the work environment with a positive mindset
  • Understand GM Financials core business functions, Core Values and Strategic Priorities

Experience

  • 5-7 years ​experience developing content across multiple mediums in a corporate environment with an available portfolio of work including experience developing leadership and management content required
  • 5-7 years experience in an educational, corporate training, or professional services environment, creating strategies and developing management, leadership, and executive level training solutions required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience required
  • Master’s Degree in a related discipline preferred
