Position Summary

The Content Development Coordinator is responsible for developing, writing, and maintaining high-quality course materials for CIA Consulting, ProChef and Food Enthusiast programming at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). The Coordinator collaborates with faculty, education/Institute leaders, and clients to deliver a wide variety of curricula in line with the CIA’s excellence standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supports all aspects of curriculum development for CIA Consulting, ProChef and Food Enthusiast courses.
  • Supports compliance of all International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) accreditation standards.
  • Ensures that CIA standards are upheld and that materials support the educational initiatives of the Institute.
  • Designs and creates curricula and training materials by researching culinary techniques, ingredients, flavor profiles, and industry trends for three distinct target audiences – culinary professionals, food enthusiasts, and industry clients. Conducts editorial duties like revising text and recipes for student/client relevancy and grammatical and formatting purposes.
  • Collaborates with Culinary Institute of the Pacific (CIP) coordinators, CIA Consulting Coordinators, and faculty/chefs teaching in the CIA/CIP program.
  • Builds course content on the CIA Consulting Learning Management System (LMS) Platform (Moodle).
  • Maintains the CIA Consulting Learning Management System (LMS) platform (Moodle).
  • Maintains the CIA Consulting Recipe database (online and via MS Word).
  • Collaborates with CIA Chef/Instructors through all stages of project development to meet contract terms, business objectives, and client expectations.
  • Collaborates with branch campus faculty and staff to adapt course guide contents to meet location-specific requirements.
  • Supports the production for all curricula print materials, in accordance to established CIA format guidelines, including recipes, lecture materials, graphs, charts, and images.
  • Maintains all curriculum files (both electronic and hard copy) and curriculum calendar. Archives master copies of current course materials and coordinates reproduction of materials with vendors. Supports the organization and reproduction of printed documents and orders all curriculum- related materials for programs.
  • Improves existing curricula through incorporating instructor feedback, written evaluations, and additional research.
  • Tracks, allocates, and reports time spent on various projects to appropriate individuals.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

Education

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Communications, Instructional Design, or a related field required or a minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience within the field of academic technology including training and development, instructional design, or faculty development support.

Experience

  • Two (2) years of progressive experience within the field of academic technology including training and development, instructional design, or faculty development support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mix of training and development or higher education teaching experience which includes facilitation of large and small groups, working with faculty and educational staff and developmental training.
  • Experience working with the Moodle Learning Management System.
  • Published examples of writing and/or editing in the culinary field a plus.

Required Skills

  • Working knowledge of instructional development, curriculum development and learning outcomes assessment.
  • Knowledge or experience in the food and beverage industry.
  • Ability to work effectively with e-Learning and Learning Management Systems, and Recipe Database systems.
  • Strong computer experience, which must include abilities to work effectively with MS Office suite products, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work with various faculty disciplines, specifically chef faculty.
  • Good facilitation and presentation skills; comfortable with e-learning environments.
  • Proven ability to develop training plans/schedules and develop instructional materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Proven ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and display an elevated level of energy and self-motivation.
  • Demonstrated ability in organizational, time management, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven, consistent record of accomplishment showing the ability to work with all levels within an organization.

Work Conditions

  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.
  • Regular work requires the use of a computer, sometimes in excess of eight (8) hours per day.
