About The Position

The College Curriculum Manager serves as a connection between the College and the centralized curriculum development team, to manage curriculum updates by planning, directing and coordinating related activities. This position supports a college’s curriculum strategies by working with the centralized curriculum development team to identify, evaluate, adopt and integrate effective educational innovations that positively influence student learning, engagement, retention, and success.

  • Serve as a liaison between a college and the centralized curriculum development team to facilitate curriculum updates and projects by planning, directing and coordinating related activities. Ensures that academic and quality standards as well as the College’s vision and mission are reflected in all aspects of course curriculum design.
  • Directly or indirectly manage and coordinate activities of staff, to ensure activities progress in scale and within prescribed budget. This may also include managing the project-related workflow and maintaining consistent communication with department staff regarding timelines and progression of curricular initiatives.
  • Collaborate with centralized curriculum development team to help develop and revise curricular materials, including competency mapping, learning objectives, and other relevant documentation; review and evaluate learning resources and maps learning resources to course or program objectives and competencies in collaboration with university partners.
  • Influence and indirectly manage subject matter experts and curriculum development groups, to expedite the update of courses and content. Ensure regulatory, programmatic, and currency needs are met through the analysis of data from internal and shared services constituent groups.
  • Assist instructional designers and other team members with the building and publication of courses in the Learning Management System (LMS), including troubleshooting and providing support and/or consultation. Develop or assist in the development of curriculum, program, job aids, and/or other related University literature, as needed.
  • Manage instructional development and editing processes by providing feedback from the College perspective to assist the curriculum development team to make needed adjustments. Provide feedback and consultation for instructional development and editing processes, and make any process adjustments necessary for course designs to meet the needs of the college. Consult with College and centralized curriculum development staff to develop tools and processes to measure, improve and enhance academic product and curriculum quality.
  • Prepare project reports for management or external parties by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends related to curriculum.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies; review and evaluate vendor and externally developed learning materials from the college perspective.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • Two (2) years of experience in a post-secondary higher education academic environment

Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Master’s degree
  • Two (2) years of experience in curriculum development and instructional design, preferably in Business or Information Technology
  • Experience in a progressively-responsible capacity in an education environment performing a curriculum or project management role
  • Knowledge and understanding of instructional design principles
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of analytical and strategic thinking
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as needed to instruct and direct others and to work effectively and diplomatically with all levels of staff and leadership
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to proactively approach problem-solving
  • Ability to manage in several projects simultaneously and produce results
  • Proficiency in the use of office applications (especially Microsoft Excel) is a plus
