The Accessibility Reviewer is responsible for testing and validating for accessibility compliance throughout digital learning products and assets.

Job Description

We are seeking an Accessibility Reviewer to proactively review, test, and validate the accessibility of digital learning content, software, and media. This person will be responsible for both spot-checks and full analyses of digital assets and programs documenting accessibility status, notating issues, and proposing resolutions. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented and well-versed in accessibility and disability standards, regulations, and best practices including WCAG 2.0, Section 508, WAI-ARIA, UAAG and ATAG. Additionally, the ideal candidate has a working knowledge of various common e-learning authoring materials, learning-management systems, and content-management systems, as this will be crucial to the review of materials.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and report on baseline accessibility status of digital learning materials and programs
  • Maintain detailed records of testing sessions and validation efforts, including details of issue location and nature of accessibility issues
  • Recommend organization-specific best solutions for edits, enhancements or accommodations to meet accessibility standards
  • Develop technical remediation plans for improving the accessibility of digital learning

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a field relevant to Technology access
  • CPACC, WAS or other web accessibility certification(s) preferred

Requirements

  • Experience in assessment, testing, and validation of digital content, including reporting to stakeholders
  • Experience assessing digital instructional materials that adhere to accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0, Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, WAI-ARIA, UAAG and ATAG)
  • Experience with accessibility evaluation tools such as Chrome accessibility developer tools, ally, aXE, Inspect, WAI toolbar
  • Experience with assistive technologies (eg, JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, ReadOutLourd, Zoomtext, MAGic, braille keyboards, embossers, textbook conversion, speech recognition, captioning, etc) and various accessibility tools
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
