In this free course, Workplace learning with coaching and mentoring, you will consider theoretical and practical issues in planning and managing learning and talent development programmes in your organisation. You will also explore ideas about coaching and mentoring; both are prominent learning and development tools in contemporary organisations. You will also learn about how different learning theories and philosophies become concrete in the practical decisions you make about learning and talent development. After studying this course, you should be able to:

• Describe the generic components of the traditional training lifecycle of the training needs analysis, or TNA (sometimes called a training needs assessment), design and development, delivery and evaluation
• Critically evaluate the strengths and limitations of the traditional training-based approach, and the main implications of the shift from training to learning
• Explain what we mean by coaching and mentoring and how they can support learning
• Practise a range of foundation coaching skills.
