eLearning & Technology Instructional Design

Open to undergraduate students in all degree programs, the Certificate in Learning, Design, and Technology is designed to promote a more thoughtful and systematic view of the role of educational technology in P-12, higher education, and corporate learning environments.

Coursework includes the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of technology-based products. The sequence of courses provides a comprehensive analysis of educational technologies while providing students with opportunities to work in collaborative environments such as schools and other organizations to implement education products.

This certificate includes an experiential learning option.

Curriculum

This certificate requires 15 credit hours. Along with gaining practical and developmental knowledge of learning, design, and educational technology in P-12, higher education, and corporate settings, you will also engage in service to the community by working with practitioners to solve real-world problems.

Choose from courses that support:

  • Teaching and learning with educational technology
  • Teaching and learning with assistive and learning technologies
  • Creating learning environments that support universal design for learning
  • Mentoring P-12 students in maker education
  • Developing products that support innovation in the workplace

The program of study includes four 3-credit-hour EDIT courses and one 3-credit-hour course from a program outside Learning, Design, and Technology that emphasizes these practices (as determined by the certificate coordinator).

How to Apply

All UGA undergraduate students with a minimum 2.0 overall GPA are eligible for application to the program. Post-baccalaureate students are also eligible to apply.

You must submit a brief narrative statement, including your degree program, major, overall GPA, and proposed program of study to the certificate coordinator, Gretchen Thomas . There are no prerequisite courses to apply. An application must be received before you can be approved to add the Learning, Design, and Technology Certificate in Athena.
